Thanks. No biggee. I was just trying to get more than a finger poke measurement to gauge whether there's adequate space for 19's to clear those freight train calipers. I think it's a situation where tire marbles and road grit will wedge into that gap and scour the paint of the barrel and the outer surface of the caliper.

This happened all the time with the 18" BBS on the 997.
I'm not worried about it, if you are going to track a car, the calipers will look like hell after a few weekends anyway.

Stick with red, Rob. When you see a red and white car parked next to each other (saw a lot of that this weekend) the white one just disappears. Unless of course that's what you're going for. Don't hate me for telling the truth, Peter.....

Funny, I was down on hands and knees doing the exact same thing and wishing my Swiss Army knife had a built in tape measure. 19's with the calipers on those brakes would be a close fit.........

980 Carrera GT and 981 Cayman together...they do look "uncanningly" similar.

I haven't studied this topic. Are the steels smaller thus offering better aftermarket wheel choices?

The steels rotors are a bit over 1" smaller in diameter (380mm vs 410mm) on the front so while I haven't seen them in person, even though the steel brakes still have big 6 piston calipers, they should have more clearance to the wheel than the PCCB calipers.

My buddy drove it there and said the thing pulled like his 997.2 chipped pdk turbo minus the lag speed-wise which is pretty awesome...oh, and he also said the sound was something for the books...
