Default New GT3 on order thread

Hi all,

My hope is this thread can centralize all the known information about options, allocations, and builds for the 991 GT3. Those with November builds have until October 7 (give or take a week) to finalize their builds, we need as much information out there as possible. Those with later builds can get some food for thought, or drooling material.

It'll also be nice to see just how many allocations the US got.

I hope we can generate a separate thread like "rants and raves" for those folks who want to debate the merits of the car, PDK, lack of sport seats, or the general stupidity of Porsche. It would be nice to centralize that as well so Porsche can see that not everyone is sold on the car or their engine/transmission choices.

To get the ball rolling I'll start. Here's my build. I have no pretense of making this a track car, rather it's for me to enjoy running local canyons and the great mountain roads in Colorado with my buddies. This will be my third GT3, after a 997 GT3 and a 997 GT3RS. I sold my 997.2 Turbo S to make room for this car.

Opinions and comments welcomed. All the info is copied from my proforma.

That's a lot of extras. The only thing i'll order that you did are the brakes.

Enjoy.

bluehinder, according to my salesman the "vehicle fixed" date (in our case October 25) is the last date the order can be changed although he says it frequently gets locked earlier than what is shown. Just wondering where the rumored August 9th date comes from.

Local dealer mentioned the date, said it had to be completed before factory starts production, pulling parts, when they come back from vacation. Hope you're right Mike, it's always nice to take your time. October 25 seems very late in my experience with other P cars. Porsche usually has an early date to insure all parts are in inventory, pulled, ready to go. That would only give them a few days to be ready for production.

Yep a few options. It's a street car for me, I want it well equipped for long weekend drives to the mountains. I see no reason to make it a stripper for my uses.

I wouldn't either. I'm thinking of getting a 4S for a DD. I'll load it with options if I do.

I am surprise you all are going for the 18 way adaptive seats. Also, aluminum look gas cap. Is that visible?

I sat in what I think were the 18 way seats on a 991S the other day and was not impressed. Fingers crossed the sport buckets arrive in Q1. I would skip the "upgrade" and rip out the sport seats when the buckets become available.

I think I've also now been convinced to skip the front lift. Nick, you live close to me...what did you decide for the lift?

Give me 5 mins I'll change my mind again. Had the standard seats in my .2. I'll probably go that route again and save the $26xx.

Nice. I'm sure you already know, but that makes your steering wheel leather.

The seats are the only option I'm still hung up on. My original plan was to go with stock seats and take 'em out when sport buckets were available. When it looked like it would be a quite while before the buckets were here, and not knowing how much 918 style ones would cost after the fact ($10K?), I decided on the ***. Now we hear buckets may be available by 2nd QTR 2014. That will be too late for my build slot and according to my rep if I try to delay the date I would likely lose the allocation which, as everyone is finding out, are in short supply. So that's not an option. Which brings me back to aftermarket and what they will cost there. Sheeesh....

So right now I'm figuring screw it. It's only $2600. I'll just get the *** and enjoy them in the meantime. I've sat in them in a TT and the multiple adjustments are a significant plus. Although the extra weight is a downside I don't expect performance is going to be a big problem in this car. If AP can run a 54sec lap at Goodwood with a 200lb guy in the right seat, maybe an extra 50 for the *** won't be a huge issue. Down the road, when the buckets appear on the parts market, which I suspect won't be for a while, I'll re-evaluate and get the buckets if I want/need them.

Oh and the "aluminum" gas cap, which is actually "aluminum look" plastic, isn't visible except when the filler flap is open.
