I would go C7 if so because even though you find a shop(Champion Motorsports for example) that would convert your 991 GT3, IMHO it is not worth what it would cost you.

I edited my past post. I don't like what I said. Gros...Could you edit out the quote?

Yes, a C7 might be the better choice, but i'll have to wait for the Z06. So, I have time to think about this.

i see the manual auto thread a lot.
i say this, "life aint perfect, deal with it"
of the 20+ GT3/RS i have and have had, i love the feel of 996gt3 the most.
but it's fugly to MY eyes.
i like the 997.2RS the best for its looks, but hated the dynamic suspension, motor mount, nannies.
i like the 4.0 RS engine but not the price.
i really want a 4.0 engine in 7.2RS body with feel and wt of 6gt3 and the price of an accord.
but i can't have that. so....

if one must have a manual, buy a 6 or 7 and drive them when you want to row the stick then add a 991 for modern technology with pdk. it' s not that hard ...

Mooty: Send 4.0 RS. I put motor and tranny in 991 GT3. Send you back 4.0 with 9A1 and automatic. Not hard. Everybody happy.

good post mooty.

the 6 gt3 has the most feel indeed. but it is ugly IMO (I owned one) but it is intense. damn machine feels like its alive. but of them all, the 6 is the worst street car by far.

maybe trackfan races a jericho top loader and requires a manual for his fun car?

Why did they make the decision to completely abandon this segment of the market? Does that create a gap that someone else is going to find a way to serve?
The question of why Porsche did what they did with the gearbox decision has been discussed at length for months. If people choose not to accept that Porsche did it for the reasons they state, ie that the development project for a low volume car had limited scope, one gearbox had to be chosen, and PDK proved to be the best overall choice based on extensive testing, market and competitive forces, and production issues, then there's nothing more to be said that can convince the folks who are unhappy.

As with any change something gets left behind, and it may very well create a window of opportunity for the aftermarket to design a manual gearbox for the 991 GT3. You can be sure, though, that if that happens it will be because money can be made doing it and not just because sentiment exists for a MT.

Don't agree with that last statement at all!

If someone is willing to go through all that trouble, besides financial means, that person has to be passionate, perseverant and intelligent enough to complete such a task when everyone is telling him it doesn't make sense.
Personally,I'd love to shake such a person's hand!
