Is there a reason to choose a Q1 2014 build over an OCT 2013 build?

Only reason to wait would be if you needed a few more months to save up the cash. Otherwise, you are just losing driving time.

There's your reason to wait.

Can anyone confirm this? Prior information was the lift would be available for October builds. I cannot imagine Porsche not making the lift available this year. It does not matter to me since I do not plan to order it. Hey, I may get move up for an earlier build date if people opt to wait.

It's available now. Here is the list of available options.

blue, I missed the lift in your enclosure??

Also, we have a spare tire option? I don't remember seeing that in the configurator.

The above list is options that will be delayed, not all the available options. Defer to configurator for that.

OK. The spare tire option is interesting. Unless you drive around with the proper tools to change the tire, the spare would appear to be of limited usefulness.

I understand you may need one considering where you live, however, I never missed it while driving through three states nor at home upstate NY.

interesting, considering others here had difficulty finding an allocation after checking 30 something dealers.

If you wait you might get stuck with a price increase. This past year the prices went up January 1 unless you had locked in order prior to January 1/13.

I don't see any reason to get the nose lift, but I'd be waiting for better seats and any other late availability options (lightweight battery and headlights?)
I wouldn't worry about quality since the car will be built aplenty for other markets, so there's little incremental gains other than really waiting it out (until the 991.2 eventuates.)
My only reservation will be whether I can put rear seats in it and use it as a family bus to replace the 991S.

I'm sure others would like a tip on where to find a dealer with spare allocation (or no orders at all.) These dealers came out of the woodwork when the RS 4.0 came along -- perhaps it means 4.0 buyers aren't 991.1 GT3 buyers. I imagine there's a lot more "wait and see" related to the 991 RS than the 991 GT3. I think the GT3 is a stepping stone to the RS -- of course all these effusive "best ever" reviews will be updated for the RS.

I find this odd. I was under the impression Porsche before allocating the cars wanted a deposit list form the dealers. To send two cars to a dealer who cannot show customer interest is puzzling.

That is misinformation I believe. My former home dealer in MD has a policy of not taking deposits and not keeping a formal list of interested buyers. They still received 4 build slots.

Then there are the dealers who elected to spec the cars themselves and sell to the highest bidder as the cars hit the showroom floor.

Quick Reply: Is there a reason to choose a Q1 2014 build over an OCT 2013 build?
