Hope for a manual
I bet he could build a GT3 beating 475HP version as well.
Use GT3 brakes, light mid engine, manual.......
You know it will be as track worthy or better.

The base Cayman is listed at 2,888 lbs with no options and no fuel. The weight listed by PCNA for the Cayman, Boxster, actually every Porsche except the GT cars, is pretty accurate for the base cars.
The 9A1 2.7, 3.4, 3.8 engines have very similar weight, so this Cayman might hit the scales around 2,900 lbs with no fuel, 260 lbs lighter than a base 997.2 GT3, and with the announcement that a 991 GT3W is gaining 77 lbs over the 997.2, the weight difference with the 991 exceeds the 300 lbs (or almost 4 seconds around Sebring).
For the first time, when the 9A1 GT3W engine shows up, it would be the ideal engine to put inside a Cayman. A 6-speed manual, beautiful 981 Cayman with the 475Hp 9,000rpm 3.8 is very appealing.
Just add PCCB, Carbon seats, Li-Ion battery, light 18" OZ wheels (8.5"/10"), Ohlins shocks, replace bushings, light exhaust. At this point, the car would be 500+ lbs lighter than a 991GT3W (near 6 seconds faster at Sebring compared to this Cayman with an extra 500 lbs in it).
Grand-Am, Speed WC and the Interseries have done a great job to develop aerokits that produce more downforce than any GT3 or GT3RS street car. Add rear Grand-Am wing and front splitter, and this 2,700 lbs rocket could be the best and most fun track ready street Porsche from modern times.

It will be interesting to see if Porsche decides to develop the 981 further. Cayman with 480Hp would be a beast.

the 2014 cayman paltform is a great starting point. Lighter then previous caymans.
with a 400hp 3.8L stuffed inside it is a great car but how much better than a 991 Carrera S?
Now, the real question is how much will porsche sell the 991GT3 engine for now that they are built on same assembly line as 9A1?
The 991GT3 engine in a 2014 cayman is modern hot rodding at its finest.

In the mean time, BGB's 3.8 conversion sounds fantastic, and i like their approach to keeping it comfortably below $100k. Assuming the price you mentioned in the other thread is correct...

Any word on the 2014 Cayman Interseries? Obviously not streetable, but track ready.
