That's what it's lifting on the 997.2 GT3 as well-30 mm. It's plenty!

You're welcome kosmo. The current option cost is $3490, not $3800, but that's still pricey. But if it means being able to get the car up my own driveway (which is the case) then it's worth it.

Is it 30mm at the wheel, or at the nose?

This has been discussed before and I don't know. Maybe someone can help with that. My guess is at the nose since if it were 30mm at the wheel it would actually be a bit more than 30mm at the nose....

As much as I know,it's from the bottom of the front lip to the ground.
Like I said,it's plenty high to clear driveways and ramps.

You're right, Nick. Reading the first paragraph of the page you displayed, it says 20mm at the shock absorber 30mm at the nose.

I also understand the it lowers automatically once you reach the speed of 40mph. You cannot drive with it raised at speed.

A few things to keep in mind as I went through this same decision when I ordered my 10':
1. You have to hit the switch to raise, it doesn't do it automatically
2. If you pull up too close to a curb when parking, it won't save you from scraping
3. It automatically lowers back down at 32 mph or when resting for long periods
4. The system adds 15 lbs of weight and on 997 GT3s is located where between the wheels where the front differential would be located on a C4. I would assume the same location on a 991
5. Replacement front spoilers, translated as "disposable" from the German parts catalog, are $250ea. That means you need to replace 14 of them to match the cost of the front end lift system

I originally had front end lift on my order form, but took it off before I locked in. I bought 2 spares for $200 ea right after I bought the car and rotate them when they get scraped up. It only takes 5-10 mins to swap one. About every 4-6 months I swap spoilers and refinish them in my garage. It takes me 30 mins to an hour to sand it down with a power sander and re-paint it with flexible bumper paint. So far I've only had one spoiler that was damaged to the point where I had to trash it. Hence I bought another replacement (#3) recently.

The other thing that scrapes regularly are the small flaps in front of the front wheels. Mine have ground off about 1" since new. I will probably replace them as part of the front fender liner (they are not replaceable separately) when I sell the car, but having them ground down does not effect the car in any way...and yes, you will end up grinding them down whether you have front end lift or not. My .02, is if front end lift is $1500 or less; buy it. At $3500, you can buy a lot of replacement parts for that.

Depends on where you live and how you use the car. Lift adds tremendous day to day usability depending on your environment. There were places I simply could not take my 997 GT3 that I could my 997 S. It's not about lip replacement; it's about access.

I agree with frayed. My current C2S has the sport chassis that is lowered 20mm and I scrape the wheel flaps every time on my driveway. With a car lowered another 10mm and a deep chin spoiler I know I would make severe contact. If I can't have unfettered access to my own home, what's the point?! Replacing parts is fine, but that would make me crazy; my sanity is worth more than $3500.....
