I wish I could give you the one in my Cayman R.

If I were in the market for a 991 Gt3 and had a choice of manual or pdk-s, it has to be a manual - 6-speed is fine.
My experience with an early 7-speed manual was not Pete's, so maybe that's been improved.

PDK-S. I drove only manual till 2008, and then it just got old for me. Shifting in city driving is mostly to safe fuel - where is the fun in that? And on a track I have a lot to do without it - to me it became more of a nuisance than fun. When I feel like need to practice some mechanical skill that requires good timing and coordination, I juggle...

Having said that, I completely understand when someone wants manual - fun/pleasure is a very personal thing which cannot be universally defined or quantified. The best car/transmission is the one that makes you smile, so if manual is essential for that, getting it makes complete sense to me. If something does not please you, it cannot be "better" in a car bought for pleasure.

I love manuals but think PDK-S will be better matched with the new engine.

BTW, Nick, you should set up a real poll feature with this thread. You'll get more responses and won't have to tally results manually.

Where's the poll?

Choice is always good, if not manual.

Cool. I don't think you can build in the previous results but people can just vote again.....

neanicu, it may be an idea to modify title of thread with "(Updated, poll added, please vote) to address all those whom have previously voted via response...

Now that we can all be anonymous in the poll we see the tiptronic guys/grannies who just want a car they can drive vote.

All good jumper, they're entitled to an opinion. I suppose an anonymous poll will give us a more realistic understanding of how people view the transmission decision by Porsche, especially if we get a big sample of members voting...

Since this was a great idea, how about two more polls for CL vs. 5 lug and RWS vs. No RWS?

Haha re the grannies. I assume you're also kidding when you compare tip to pdk!

If the poll was:

a/ Currently in a manual car but VOTING PDK-S
b/ Currently in a manual car and VOTING MANUAL
c/ Currently in a PDK/Tip car but VOTING MANUAL
d/ Currently in a PDK/Tip car and VOTING PDK-S

then that would approximate* to:

a/ PDK-S new believers
b/ die-hard manuals
c/ Manual believers & PDK is BS.
d/ PDK believers

*= very approximate! (no flames)

Jay NZ, your proposal has merit and that would be the best way to determine any shifts in the market... A most appropriate way to set it up... I'd be 'B' despite being in autos in my early years of driving...
