Yes, tire for tire and I wonder what it would take to button up a TT..

Coilovers and a sway bar, done. A tune if you want to rub it in. GT3's well in rear view mirror. No need for and LSD, no need for Aero. I would bet once you get acclimate to AWD, you will run mid teens in that car on NT01's.

Shedding weight will make the car feel more lively. No GT3 lively but exponentially more lively then from the factory.

Yeah, that's true, and will suit Peter's drive every minute of every session lifestyle better.

Not really, and he certainly won't like it with almost 500 ft lbs of torque kicking in.
|
Just buy a GT2 RS.

Good point

With Turbo power and AWD the car will rocket on track out and be very stable to boot..
GT2RS costs another $80k-ish |
I'm a "race car feel" kind of guy so the GT3 for me over the TT. You'll end up spending all the savings in price difference just to try and make it feel like a GT3.

According to Porsche, the 991 Turbo is faster around the Ring than the 991 GT3. Hmmmm.....different from their results with the previous Gens.
|
For me - the "feel" is everything. . .cant imagine the turbo feels 1/2 as good a gt3.. .if you can do without feel - maybe a GTR is the play.
|
Stock to stock is hard to tell...I guess it depends how improved the Turbo suspension is plus all the nannies... Also Porsche is saying they've basically eliminated turbo lag...if it's still there in a form or another, imagine coming out of a tight bend in 2nd gear and needing to build up some revs before the Turbos kick in,time in which the NA GT3 will be long gone...
Tweaking the Turbo suspension and a tune it's putting the Turbo in front IMO. |
Re previously "Soft" Turbo Suspensions, PDCC is standard on the Turbo S and available on the Turbo but not the GT-3. Porsches using PDCC revert to an Engine Driven Hydraulic steering pump, so the GT3 will have electric Steering, but the PDCC Turbo will not. Advantage Turbo! All the 991 C2S and Turbo Track records are with PDCC. I have it on my C2S and the rolling reduction and flat cornering is unreal. As to which model would have faster track times, The recently published Nurburgring Times for the 991 Turbo S is 7:26 (6 Seconds faster than the 997 Turbo S) a great time, but slower than the GT2RS, Nissan GT-R, ZR1 and ZO6 Corvette, and Lamborghini Aventador. 991 GT3 times are not yet listed for Nurburgring, but they are for Hockenheim and the 1:08.00 published time is faster than the GT2RS, GT-R, ZO6 Corvette, and Aventador, GT3RS 4.0 and 3.8, R8, GT2, 458, and most every recent Supercar. If those times translate to the Nurburgring, it would be simply incredibly fast. Advantage GT-3!
The caution here is that the very long Nurburgring is a VERY fast track with over 100 MPH average speeds and most every other racetrack is shorter with fewer high speed straights, average lap speeds 10-20 MPH slower, and fewer opportunities for the high HP Torquey Turbos to display their accelerative abilities. DD Driving, racing and preferring Turbos since 1979, IMHO, I still believe the GT3 lap times at the Ring will be faster than the Turbo S and BOTH will be incredible cars and the choice between them will hinge on the importance they place on comfort, quiet and blazing acceleration (Turbo) vs delightful handling and track behavior (GT-3) I feel blessed to be given that choice. |

- Porsche claimed that no Turbo lag on the 997.1. Fool me once........
- The GT3 time on hockenheim was an estimate, not an actual time. And still it doesn't count until it's done third party like almost all of the rest of them. - If the Turbo S did (Theoretical Best Lap Time as usual) 7:26 on regular street tires, then it's definitely potent. The GT-R, ZR1, Z07, GT2RS all had R comp level tires on. |
