back seat in 991 gt3
Anybody know if its possible to option out back seats or retrofit it?
Saw it done in a 997 gt3. Please don't get mad at me but with the user friendliness of this new version. I would like to take my wife and kid to enjoy it too:) |

To the OP, factory option unlikely... as for retrofit, it will depend on whether seat belt points for rear are welded into chassis. For the 997.1 it was possible. for the 997.2 the factory claimed a metal sheet layer was removed to lighten the car and it was not possible. Not likely to be answerable until someone gets a car and rips up the carpets... |
Ideally there could be a factory option for mini flappy-paddles in the back for the back passengers. To share the joy.

Just for fun, I will ask local dealer if this option is available.
I think the main issues are the seat belt and seat mounts, if they are pre-installed then it should be possible. Hoping they are:) |
I'd suggest one of the 20 other 911 variants and leave the GT3 alone.

Even better - they should be able to control the rear wheel steering. A whole-family driving experience. Never a boring trip!

I don't see why not, that would actually make the GT3 perfect replacement for my E90M3 DD for me. I need an automatic for the wife and a back seat for the kids. Then I could get rid of the GT3RS as the track rat and get back to one car for both duties. That would be the only way for me to justify owning the 991GT3. I could look past the shortcomings (that I perceive) in other areas if I could use it as a DD. Funny that I had the same conversation with someone about to order a custom colored maxed out C2. He'd much rather have a GT3, but needs a rear seat.
I don't see why we would be flammed. The car is missing a manual, track seats, weighs more than the outgoing model, gets much better gas mileage, and has a more streetable suspension. It is clearly a much better DD than the outgoing model, actually a perfect compromise if it had a back seat. |

You will have to wait until somebody has chance to see under the carpet. Most likely when somebody does a roll bar would be a good time.
I wouldnt hold your breath however. Nothing wrong with trying to stick the kiddies in the car by the way.... :) |
Interestingly the 1993 964 rs America (the gt3's uncle) had rear seats but the 1992 MY didn't.
