LED lights. I believe this is the first 911 to have this as an option. It is pricey $3100. Yet it does give the car a more modern and aggressive look. On the other hand, this is a performance car to be used at a track. What purpose would the LED lights serve and would they help resale? Thoughts?

Nick, you take a big risk starting a thread that has not been cleared for appropriateness by the C&C monitors!
From what I've read, the LED headlights are a little lighter than the standard Bi-Xenons but basically the extra $3110 is buying you a design "feature" which looks cool and not much else. As with most options of this type, I doubt they will return much if anything at trade-in time. I don't think there's a practical reason to get them, but if someone likes the look and can afford the price, TEHO. My $.02.

I'm not worried about the car looking out of date as this car will be a long time keeper; it will look like the period it's from which is ok by me. Buying a $150K car isn't a rational excercise to begin with; it's emotional. If you want the LED lights, and it doesn't bust your budget, get 'em.

But looking at the configurator closely the LED's do change the front appearance of the car for the better substantially. That said, it still is a lot of money with probably no return. My guess is most of the newer 911's introduced after the Gt3 will have them and in some cases standard. Without them, the car may look out of date.

1) Options like this only appeal to buyers who have to have every option box checked or the car isn't complete.
2) The GT3 isn't being marketed as just a track junkie car anymore. Trying to appeal to a wider, softer audience.

As ever, forget the notion of buying a car for the next owner. It just plain never works out. Unless your business is profiting from trading cars, you're a retail consumer, so unless you're going for a car that's uncommon in your regional market, it's all much of a muchness.
I've been going back and forth on the LED headlights. First off, they're clearly a joke -- just a way to ask the sucker for another $3K -- and useless for the purpose of driving the car, and look cheap and plasticky. Second, they're standard issue with some other brands and will be as cheap or replace HIDs with the next major model refresh cycle from VW. I don't see anyone looking at a 991 GT3 and using the LED headlight decoration as their queue to identify the car, or to perceive it as "old" or "new."
Ultimately, all I want is what used to be called the "lightweight" headlight and had the advantage of no chrome plastic nipples through the front bumper cover and saved the weight of the washer pump and reservoir fluid.

I originally thought to opt for them but as the upgrade from the HID with directional control is 1800. But now I'm thinking standard lights and use the $3k for hookers and cocaine. More bang for the buck.

Are LED's like PDK? The wave of the future? If so, why saddle your car with the past? That said, I agree they are expensive and of little value in driving the car. Lights are lights.
Buying for the next owner is not altogether correct. Knowledgeable car people know what options enhance resale and what don't. To think otherwise is to deny the obvious. Whether LED's enhance the value is uncertain since these will be the first to be optioned on the 911. My guess they will unless some other informations comes along.
