Unhappy Even Jaguar is desperately trying to get a peice of the GT3 & RS market

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/ne...aguar-xkr-s-gt

The GT features a bespoke aerodynamic package that includes a carbonfibre front splitter, dive planes, extended wheel arch spats, a rear diffuser and a large fixed rear wing. Maximum downforce of 145kg is said to be achieved.......

....Just 30 examples of the £130,000 model will be made – 25 for the US and five for Canada. However, Jaguar says it will consider right-hand drive models for the UK and other markets if demand is sufficient.

im glad this car exists but i feel bad for jaguar. theyre trying very hard (esp with the f type) but just doesnt come out right. this car is still too heavy and has a torque converter auto transmission. at those prices there are way too many better choices.

I'm sorry, that car looks like ***.

For that money, i'd buy an Aston V8 Vantage 6 speed.

If they made a similar package available in a coupe F-type, i'd seriously consider it over the new GT3.

I've got a friend with an XKRS and although it shreds tires like no tomorrow, it's an absolute blast to drive at the track, and completely docile on the street. Jags have come a long way in the last 5-10 years.

Am I missing something? By the specs, I see no reason to be excited at the slightest - it's an M6 wannabe with a wing, inferior engine and a conventional (read: most likely outdated) slushbox. Almost 1000 pounds heavier than GT3 and with a 6-speed slushbox - what's the use case?

I am missing something too. How is this car in any way an alternative to the 991 GT3?

Well for the new market the 991 is targeted at, it shares this market requirement:

"Jaguar — For men who'd like hand-jobs from beautiful women they hardly know."

This forum gets weirder by the day...first the new 991ttt. Then it's the r8, then m5,3,or,6.
Now this jag!?!

This is insane.
There isn't a car in the gt3's price range that will be or is as engaging or quick on the track as the gt3. Period. And Porsche knows this.

I see this as more of a competitor to AMG Black Series vehicles.

Rossion Q1, Viper, C7 Z06, McLaren P13 ?, and proberbly more to come, all at less than the 991 GT3, except for the P13

Yeah and I'm probably the new pope.
Love the sweeping generalizations.
