Where I grew up, he'd immediately acquire a nickname like "Andy the Prune". And the only question he'd get would be along the lines of "WTF???

"Why is it called a GT3?" is a totally legitimate question since it has nothing in common with the race cars, except the mirrors.

Not really the GT3 Cups and RSR's have to have a production car to homologate with. I have no doubt that they will use the tub and engine from the 991 GT3 in them.

"Why does it have a Porsche badge?" is a legit question. Is it not a rebadged VW with bits and bobs from the parts bin. Mostly a marketing exercise if you ask me. I bet it never made a full lap around the Nordschleife.

Tub, sure.

Engine, trans, suspension - forget it.

Nope. Tub & windshield only.

Hey AP...we all pretty much HATE your so called GT3.

Funny stuff...I haven't read much on any forum where people are excited about this car.

The car has been seen by almost no one here in person, nobody here has examined it up close, sat in it, started it, driven it on the street or track, or read a review by anyone who has sat in it, started it, or driven it on the street or track. Furthermore, no one here has seen independent performance numbers, or lap times for the car at any track anywhere. Yet you "all pretty much hate it".

Almost every professional uses complete facts to make decisions except fortune tellers and dowsers. Odd that so many of them are showing up on the 991 GT3 forum!

Oh, you know I kid you guys....

My question:
Herr AP, do you post under the internet pseudonym “Mike in CA”?

True...I'm sure it will be comfy and perform well but what will the experience be like. On paper no one seems to be excited about this car' guts. I believe we all like it's looks but it's the soul is what the true car guys and track guys are after.

Mike, I don't know but doubt it will be comfy, given the specs it should perform very well, and the experience remains to be seen. And that's the point; it remains to be seen not guessed at. Anyone who says they know what it will be like is simply blowing smoke.

Someone who's been on RL for 12 years, who sits at their computer at midnight arguing cars with perfect strangers on an internet forum is a car guy, and this car guy believes that the "soul" of a car can't be told from a spec sheet, even though I think the new GT3 has a spectacular one. I'm not certain this car will have soul, but if I had to bet, my bet would be that a lot of naysayers are going to be eating their words within 6 months.

Best,

Can't agree more with Mike in CA. I will get a European one in September and will report back, technology marches on and the new GT3 has all the de rigeur stuff, I am sure it will drive circles around the 3.8 and 4.0 RS. That is what a track/race car is all about!! Faster, better. Porsche will not disappoint! I for one can't wait to get PDK. Has anyone ever driven a sequential Cup? You never want to go back for track use. PDK as close as it gets. I love mine in the 458.
