Default Gas Guzzler Tax??

Will the 991 GT3 be subject to this?

Since the gear ratios are about the same as the 996 GT3 is the engine that more efficient, to bypass the tax?

I looked this up. There is a formula that uses city and highway mileage to come up with a combined number for the puposes of determining the gas guzzler tax. When I used the formula on my Carrera S with PDK it came out to 25.34mpg. The $0 threshold for the tax is 22.5. Unless the PDK DFI GT3 gets a lot worse mileage than the PDK DFI Carrera S, I'm guessing it will bypass the tax. BTW, even if combined mpg drops to 21.5, the tax is "only" $1K.

UK fuel mileage figures:

Urban: 12.4mpg
Ex-urban: 26.4mpg
Combined: 19mpg

Note sure how that equates exactly to US testing protocal but I'd be surprised if it gets by without a guzzler tax.

Testing protocols are different; it's complicated you can google it. Also, the calculation is not straightforward even for the US. The combined mileage number on the Monroney sticker for my '09 DFI Carrera is shown as 22, which would have qualified it for the GG tax, but the GG calculation comes out to 25.34, which allowed it to pass untaxed.

Obviously we don't have the US numbers so who knows. My point was that there is some wiggle room given the numbers for my DFI Carrera and the 991S mpg is slightly improved over them, so let's just say I'm hopefull.

Looking at the mpg figures on the German site between the C2S and the GT3, I am sure there wil be a gas guzzler tax

The numbers for the GT3 are for the combined gas useage about 40% worse than the C2S, I think a combined 19mpg is realistic

Since that's UK fuel mileage, is that miles per Imperial gallon?

No - converted. But don't assume US numbers will equate.

Ok, but not likely off by the 20%, either. Thanks!
