Default 991S X51 7spd no PDCC... or GT3?

This is my dilemma. I have been waiting to see what the GT3 brings. Mostly country back roads, HWY 1, with the possible occasional track day. Which is the more fun car?

This is where I was, but I was flip-flopping, daily, as to PDK or 7 speed. But, I love a high reving engine. The 9k redline on the GT3 pushed me over the edge.

The GT3 sounds more thrilling, for sure. But more user friendly, fun, engaging if you are not a track junkie? I am waiting for someone to say buy a 993-if you could even find one...

Buy a 993, upgrade suspension, exhaust, flywheel and add a set of lightweight wheels

...and save half the cost of the 991S or GT3.

Like I mentioned in another thread, really torn about this - I have a deposit in for the GT3. I figure if I don't like it I am sure there will be a lineup of people to buy it and I get a MT 991.

The quicker car is the GT3 by 1 sec due to gearing and not the extra 45 hp over the X51. The X51 kit is a tenth or so quicker than the base 911S. The extra horses in both cases get you a few more mph on top speed. Personally I would not get the X51 and put the $17,800 toward the GT3. The GT3 includes PDK, Aerokit, SPASM +, and Sports Seats + to the tune of about $11,600. So you are within 2k of the X51 cost after subtraction .. not including the additional wheel, suspension, and motor upgrades. If you want a manual like I do, go for the cheapest, lightest 911S you can live with. I think the GT3 is a bargain, but the PDK, look at me rear wing, lack of proper seats, and potential high maintenance costs are a big turnoff. However I would hesitate to spec any 911 that cost more than the mid teens, might as well jump to the GT3. I believe Porsche marketing shot themselves in the foot with the GT3. I would not spend more money on a 911 than the cost of the GT3 and spend as little as possible for one. Pay more $$ and be, slower, uh no.

The 911S manual is the more fun car, the GT3 is faster. IMHO.

Unless you plan on driving it year round in MN, like I do...
