GT3 allocation

My salesman just called. His dealership received confirmation of their first GT3 allocation this afternoon, and since I was first on the wait list he grabbed it for me. The car has been generically spec'd by Porsche and I was sent the 10 page order document complete with US prices for the options that had been selected for this car, and a Porsche order code.

He says having the allocation come with a particular configuration is common and that once the car is assigned to me, he can go into the system and make any changes in color or options that I might wish to make. It's not clear at this point when the car will actually be ordered or delivered, but the fact that an actual production allocation has already been assigned seems to be an indicator that it might be sooner that I originally thought.

I still haven't seen a complete option list so I don't know if sport buckets, for example, are available as they weren't on this particular car. Interestingly, front axle lift is shown, even though information on the German configurator indicated it wouldn't be available until later in the model run. Either that means the availablilty has changed or it's an indicator of when the car will be built for the US.

The important thing, to me, is that I've got a production slot, although I can still back out at any time and get my deposit back. (Don't see that happening at this point). Also, the car will be sold at MSRP. No discount, but no gouging markup either.

Were you expecting a markup?

I wasn't because I'd been told previously that my dealer doesn't do that as a matter of practice. But other posters have mentioned that some dealers were for sure going to charge over MSRP; in one case $20K, and there has been speculation about it. It was good to get confirmation.

Congrats, Mike! I will be calling my dealer tomorrow to see what info he has available on mine. He assures me I'm at the top of his list and also no markup.

Can you share the U.S. prices for the key options that were on your allocated car, please?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks! Here you are. There's at least $4K in options I'd delete from this.....

Thanks very much, Mike!

Congrats Mike. Looks like nav is free in US unlike the UK configurator.

Anyone know what is the difference between -

68 Leather interior in Black, deviating stitching in Guards Red $3,320
and
749 Leather interior package with decorative Red stitching $1,490?

hlee1169 03-06-2013 11:06 PM

Congrats, Mike. What color are you thinking for the car?

Alan Smithee 03-06-2013 11:12 PM

Congrats - I know you must be thrilled.

It does indeed look like navigation is standard, which further justifies the MSRP as a good deal, all things considered.

I think it's just duplicate Porsche "order speak". From playing around with the UK configurator, the full leather interior is 1967 pounds which corresponds to the $3320 charge. Then if you choose red deviating stitching it's an additional 801 pounds which would be the $1490 charge for the actual stitching. Once you do that it probably changes the description of the original full leather item.

I'm thinking Guards Red. I'm a little concerned about the lack of stealth for a red car with a big wing, so I'm still considering. ;)

Congrats, Mike! You need a GT3 bad :-) BTW, who's the dealer? Sonnen? I just bought $3000 worth of parts, cheaper than SunCoast even with CA Tax -if you pick it up...

Congrats Mike, thanks for posting the option prices
Good to see NAV is part of the base in the US

Awesome Mike!

$4800 just for red stitching instead of stock white stitching? Geesh

I believe the 997 Front Axle Lift System only raised the front up One (1) Inch.
Anybody know how high the 991 Lift System raises the nose? One inch is not much.
