From the photos I've seen, the front end of the 991 GT3 doesn't look as low as that of the 997.2 variants. The front axle lift may not really be needed. After all, the car was designed to get into the cars & coffee parking lot without an embarrassing scrape. . .

The ground clearance at the centre of the front axle is 93mm (3.66in) which is exactly the same as the 997.2 GT3 RS.

The approach angle in the front is 5.8 degrees versus 5.6 degrees for the 997.2 GT3 RS.

The ramp break over angle is 5.1 degrees versus 10.3 degrees for the 997.2 GT3 RS.

Is this compliant with your favourite coffee shop parking lot?

I'd actually been wondering what those numbers were, but didn't know where to find them. Thanks for posting that info, even though I'm sure you realize most people aren't really interested in the facts when it's so much more fun to spout BS based on incorrect assumptions.

The approach angle is slightly better on the 991, I assume because the front overhang is a bit less than the 997. Doesn't seem like enough, though, to make the FAL unnecessary.

Well, I never scraped the front axle on the GT3RS, only the front splitter. That particular piece of plastic looks like it's higher off the ground in the new car. So, while interesting, the numbers above do not indicate the need for a front axle lift. At least for me. The desert is pretty flat. Plus, added weight and complexity are the antithesis of a sports car. Or they used to be anyway.

I urge all of you to write and express your displeasure about the lack of "Sports Bucket Seats" to:

Is it me or the new GT3 a rip off ? I priced one to my specs... 148k

I only added the sport seats/alcantara interior, PCCB's...yellow seat belts...and mettalic paint...

wtf ?

Fk that... I'll take the new z06 Vett and it will have a lot of more standard features then a standard GT3 and probably have 75k left over to mod/track money..

a track spec z06... just priced out at

2013 Corvette Z06 1LZ $78,015....

So over $75k differences if we include taxes. ... man I love Porsche but... WOW !

Funny but actually really appreciate this info as my driveway is below my house and the incline ange and then subsquent merge is steep my M5 hits almost all the time. I figure the GT3 will be scrapping like a cheese grater!

135 for full options is a good price but not 48 with just 4 options..

i'll wait for the gt2RS to come to 991/3 price and pick one up... or pickup a coffee cup like you

for now my neon will do..

Agreed... but their are a lot of "options" that I think should be standard... bi-exons comes to mind... however i can see why you skipped the DE stuff and went straight to race cars... makes sense. I'm looking into myself after doing the open wheel racing from skip barber.

Bi-xenons are standard. You only pay extra if you want PDLS (swivels lights in corners and some other stuff), black trim around the headlights, or the new LED lighting.

Mike, if you keep posting at this rate, you'll soon join the "5000" club (and might get a present from "911Slow"...)

Horst, I admit it, I'm addicted to cars, and I love talking/writing/reading about them, not to mention driving them. At least it's taken me almost 12 years to get close to 5000 posts. Some guys get there a lot faster, so it could be worse.
