And You know the upcoming zo6 vette aint gonna have no stink'in rear wheel steering. Theyre prob ROFLOL.

At least we can still laugh at them for having leaf springs.
And these two C6 Vettes were tested independently by Motor Trend at Laguna Seca driven by Randy Pobst, and once again they proved to be Kings. Their Nurburgring lap times are legit.

The ZR1 holds the fastest track lap at Laguna Seca for a showroom stock car.

The Z06 beat the 3.8RS by more than 2 secs, it also beat the MP4-12C, 458 Italia, and everything else.

The new C7 is focused on track performance, racetrack seats offered, transmission cooler, differential cooler, dry sump, on a car with 1/2 the price of the Carrera GT3.

GM is not afraid to offer affordable CCM brakes, and lots of Carbon fiber on a sub-$100k car. The next C7-Z06 will likely offer CCM brakes, more carbon body parts, and a light exhaust to produce even better performance than the outgoing Z06.

I would expect the next Z06 to spank the 991 Carrera GT3 at the Nurburgring by at least 10 seconds, while still offering a manual transmission (and great sound).

Rumors are Z06 with 600+ hp, ZR1 with 700+ hp.

Too bad they also went with electric steering this time (so will the next M3/M4). The Viper stayed hydraulic...

IIRC the hood on the BASE C7 is Carbon Fiber. I would agree w/ NJ GT that more of this material will prob be in order for the higher end models. Its somewhat telling that the new GT3 doesnt offer CF to offset the not insignificant weight increase. Is the GT2 RS the only model that even offers a CF hood? Even the M3 Coupe ($70k ish) offered a CF roof. I guess P doesnt believe in "trickle down."

And speaking of BMWs, the New M5 has hydraulic vs electric steering in the base model.

CF fenders were options on the 4.0 RS but not the 3.8RS...we have to go aftermarket if we want non-steel stamped bodywork

I think CF fenders were options on the GT2 RS and standard on the 4.0 RS.

as a side note to my post- we all know that Lap times are just one metric, just like hp etc. It's almost meaningless to a track novice like me. However it would have been nice, at least optically, for this new, $130k+, GT3, w/ all the electronic aids, to at least match a supposed competitor's OUTGOING model. Well at least the GT2 RS and 918 are faster than the Vettes. Sigh...

I take your point, but laptimes are much more than one metric. It is the synthesis of many metrics required to achieve a fast time (HP, torque, gearing, grip, braking, weight, balance, etc.).

GT2 isn't what we're talking about but my point was CF fenders have never been a stock option on a GT3- the 4.0 is an entirely different car than a standard gt3

The 2013 458 has a base price of approximately $240K. That includes a three year warranty and seven years of scheduled maintenance. With options, most of them are priced between $260K and $300K.
Yes and isn't there still a multi-year wait list unless you are a good customer?

I think you'll see more former GT3 owners driving C7 Z06's at the track

Not sure, but with GM's version of electric steering it is sure to be a bit numb...

Throw the new E63 S version in the mix too. Approaching 600 hp and ft-lbs.

You can't track a car that weighs over two tons for more than a couple laps...
