Default GT3 as a daily (weekend) driver?

Comments to GT3 as a DD? I have a 997.2 PDK Turbo now - great daily driver...just not all that much fun (other than wickedly fast)..so the GT3 concept appeals to me if it had a completely split personality. I had a 2004 GT3 which I liked very much but never as a daily driver. I am in my 50's now....

The choice was leaning to the GT3 because I wanted a stick - but now that's not an option. Trying to avoid multiple sports cars....so the simple question is - what are opinions to this GT3 as a daily driver with say two of 3 track sessions a year...?

3 Year rust warranty doesn't make it a good DD.

I have a 2008 M3 which I love as a DD. However, I am considering the GT3 as a DD. According to AP, it is more useable as an everyday can than the last gen.

I actually think this one will be a better daily driver than the previous 997 version.

No question. It's heavier, has a longer wheelbase, likely more sound deadening, bling interior, and automatic transmission. The bar has clearly been skewed towards the daily driver.

For daily driving, where a manual tranny is required, there are few clear choices in that general price segment IMO.

2012 Audi R8 V8 w/ 6spd manual. $114K, base, and it comes with everything you need, not a single option is required. It's widely known that the V8 manual is the most "fun" to drive, and most balanced.

Any comments about the R8's weight or performance compared to a GT3 is pointless for DAILY DRIVING, we don't scratch any of these car's performance limits on the street.

2012 BMW M3 Coupe - Base or Competition Package - $60-$70K.
6spd manual. Sublime V8, EDC for suspension choices. Back seat and trunk.

2013 Porsche 911-S - $100K - 7spd manual. Base model. No active roll-bar crap.

In the price bracket..at least used on this side of the pond...Aston Martin V12 Vantage and DBS also qualify in manual form.

Actually, I forgot about the V8 Vantage w/ 6spd manual. Used ones are around the $100-ish mark, but finding a 6spd is harder in the used market because most who order them as such, keep them.

the 991 GT3 will be the best daily driver yet. Well appointed, better approach angles for driveway access and fully automatic tranny make banking, traffic and grocery getting a breeze.

For the few track days you will enjoy fast lap times. The paddle shift experience will have you dreaming about F1 race cars

991 GT3 better DD except if you need to drive in snowy conditions.

Are you sure that you wish to live with THAT gearbox?

The smaller Astons also suffer from a less than charming box and not enough power, a pity because they look the part

aston's sound way faster than they are...gearbox is clunky.

R8 gearbox is better but the 991GT3 would be a really cool daily/weekend car.

if you want a "pure fun" driving experience just get a new boxster S manual...at least it's not trying to be something it's not

Denis,

Get a Cayman S done up right or the 991 GT3. I suspect the Cayman may be more fun day in day out on the street and will definitely be more fun than your Turbo Cab due to their lighter weight.

Would like to see whatever you end up getting.
