Looks like PDK only

probably the shape of things to come since, what, 85% + of 991's are PDK nowadays.

I'm undecided as to the demise of the manual transmission.

I believe those stats are accurate. I remember when I traded my F430 for the 458 the dealer commented that my 430 was soon to be an extinct species because it was a manual not F1. The 458 was never available in a manual......something about shifting gears that speed, accuracy, and technology just can't replace.

In California, I wouldn't be too surprised or all that disappointed by 95%+ PDK. But assuming the 85% PDK, I'd say a high percentage of GT3's would be in that 15% of manual shifting buyers if the option existing. After a year of selling PDK-only, Porsche will look at numbers that suggest (to them) the "loss" of sales for not having a third pedal will not support the business case to have a modified 7 spd manual to take the ground stomping torque and 9000+ rpm of the RS. Hopefully the rocker arm heads of the GT3 suggest a 10K rpm RS. Equally wishful is to hope that the presence of the 7 spd manual in the Carrera means the R&D is already done to put a manual box in the GT3 and RS – all they're doing now is trying a full court press on the PDK to leave no option on the table for buyers today to decide to "wait" for a manual. If Mr Preuninger had tipped his hand and showed a manual coming eventually, it could cost sales in the near term.
