Autobild. And the wing is obviously wrong - it is the aero wing the cars been testing with, not the final one in the first post of this thread.

And yea the chrome/silver lip on the wheel is ugly. I have seen a few 997.2s with the same - was it an option? 918 RSR wheels also have it.

Thanks. Must be a photoshop job. With all the secrecy surrounding the car it seems impossible that Autobild would have a real photo of the actual car.

Its definately a photoshop. Shame as the colour excited me. The front lip of teh spoiler is also wring as the black material doesnt climb up the front wheel of teh wheel arch as it does on all the recent spy shots weve seen. Black rings around headlights also look good (aka speedster) but unlikely to feature on the read deal. Wheel spoke design isn't original enough for porsche and I agree would look better completely black and less fussy detail.

I guess its an artists illustration done a month or two a go before final details were confirmed...buggar!

According to the local OPC, the 991 GT3 will be available with a manual transmission...

...and the 991 Turbo S may be released ahead of the 991 Turbo...

...looking forward to the world premiere at Geneva!

LOTS of new iron @ Geneva next week. Going to be a busy Monday and Tuesday on the interwebz.

Just thinking here......weren't the last 2 generations of GT3 "leaked" onto the web the Sunday before their official Geneva intro?

991 actually has an option for black headlights. Forgot what the code is.

Just can't wait. Come on, Porsche!

Looks like Porsche is keeping a very tight lid on this new GT3 (at least we all hope it's a GT3). I am full of anticipation and I really think it's going to be spectacular in terms of performance.

I know the debate on the subject of PDK and various electronic aids will undoubtedly continue. I believe at the end of the day, the new GT3 will be a vastly different machine from the current generation, like apples and oranges.

Thats good to know sunnyr. If anyone knows that option code would be good to know. Looks great on a solid colour car. Very "lightweight 964 C4esq"

As crazy as that sounds, nothing Porsche does nowadays surprises me anymore, from the abomination of the Panamera to putting 20" bling CL's on the GT3. For all we know, they may be thinking-release the 991 GT3 and Turbo S first with PDK to impress the journalists with fast 0-60/100 times and the Ferrari crowd in love with F1 trannies, then grudgingly release the GT3 and Turbo with MT options for the enthusiasts....

Al. There will be no time to launch a second transmission choice. As always I suspect there will be two batches of 991 GT3 manufactured - the first will be before the factory closes for August summer holidays an the second after. If we are looking at the typical 1 model, 9 month production run (1200-2000 units) then they dont have time to announce significant configuration changes IMHO...

I thought somebody mentioned there would be limited runs (400/500) any truth to that ?

I hope not!!! Clearly, by the way the current GT3s hold their values, there's not enough of them. More cars = more knowledgeable techs to set them up, more spares, more people to chase around the track, more fun.

It is 'Porsche Exclusive' option XEX on the 991 model. From the US PCNA configurator: "Bi-Xenon headlights in Black with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) XEX / $1,485". In the gt3 & RS, I expect the 'headlights in black' might be offered as no cost option or even standard on these two models, but with the less expensive and less weight 'basic' xenon internal lights! But we will see.

Yes. Option on all 997's and early 991's painted wheels! On .1 997 the 'silver' lip was wider (see first photo). On the .2 997 and 987, the 'silver' lip was narrower (second photo). Same as for the early 991's (third photo).

Currently, US PCNA configurator doesn't show this option as all painted wheels have been put on hold pending insuring a better color match on all of these painted wheel options that arrive ALREADY PAINTED from the manufacturers. The problem was that painted wheels needed an EXTRA clear coat to protect against brake dust, salt, road grime, etc. This extra clear coat, on top of the color painted on the wheels, would sometimes appear NOT to match exactly the exterior paint panels of the vehicle (fourth photo)! In this Racing Yellow 991S, owner was not satisfied with the color match and PCNA had to make amends! The temporary delay re: 991 painted wheel options arose from cases like the one shown by this Racing Yellow painted wheels! Yes, I know. It's not something that I would ever recommend (it even clashes with the different 'yellow' of the PCCB's calipers), but I couldn't talk the owners (friends) from ordering it this way...and the paid a price for it!

Fifth photo shows a Racing Yellow 991S with the early 991 'black painted' wheels that initially were an option! Notice the narrower silver lip on ALL .2 997's & 991's factory painted wheels!

I anticipate NO silver lip on the upcoming 991 gt3 RS, just like PAG did NOT do it on the .1 997 RS and .2 997 RS. I am not sure, however, that a full color (e.g black or some other hue) wheel will be offered on the regular 991 gt3. I would think not! I think the regular gt3 will be offered with the silver lip if a painted wheel is allowed on that model! Otherwise, I think we will see the new 'Platinum' semi-gloss as a standard offering on the gt3 (Sixth & final photo). That doesn't have a silver lip. My dos centavos, for what it's worth.

Saludos,
Eduardo
