As was stated in the article, those comments were with regard to initial iterations of PDK, not the GT3's PDK 3.0 as it was referred to. AP made it clear that he changed his mind after development and testing.

Interesting to note that this is now up from the original quote of 30kg gain for automatic.
Appreciate your enthusiasm for automatics but I prefer to focus on who signs his paycheck when debating the merits of not offering a manual.

You wrote that you agreed with AP (apparently despite who signs his paycheck) when he said that PDK was boring. I simply pointed out that his comment didn't refer to the version of PDK in the GT3, and the article made that clear.

Thanks. I completely missed that. And since we're being pedantic, if you do your homework you'll also find that AP championed center locks as a much better alternative to 5-lugs and stated numerous times that the GT3 must have a manual.

+1 I recall him stating as much in the 7.2 RS launch/walkaround video

I think some of you guys are on a witchhunt, or AP hunt.
Is AP likely biased b/c PAG signs his check? Sure. But, I don't interpret AP's prior statements as contradictory to his current representations.
AP did say that he was against the PDK box originally, then it eventually won him over after quite a bit of development. Perhaps it's all marketing and actually doesn't like the PDK as much as the manual, but that statement, to me, explains away his prior statement the GT cars have to have a manual.
With centerlocks, just like with ceramic brakes, the problem with the v.1 centerlocks wasn't the theory, but the execution. Now, PAG has reengineered the centerlocks. My money is on PAG on this one. . . I believe they've gotten it right this time.
That would be cool.

AP stated his initial concerns with PDK was the lack of speed in gear change. However, that was corrected when Porsche redesigned the PDK for the GT3. Much faster gear changes and more driver involvement. His benchmark was the 458 transmission and if I read his statement correctly he believes the PDK in the GT3 is even better than the 458.

Burning Brakes
All that and coming in at 2850 lbs...with the lightweight, high amp, lithium battery...and oh yeah, bucket seats
