Not if you don't wash the car.

Due to the valiant efforts of our faithful 997.2 GT3 owners, advanced R&D has resulted in the design of the 991 GT3 center lock wheels such that they will no longer randomly "fly off" (aka fatal failure) as they do on the now on the far inferior 997.2 GT3 when entering Pflantzgarten I on der ring at zer grosse rate of km/h...

One guy just posted the new Turbo will be PDK only!
I'm really starting to not like what Porsche is doing :

I think the Turbo was a given as PDK only. Turbo's love PDK -- wide open throttle, no loss of power, no loss of boost, they can even do a little over-boost torque jiggery-pokery to give the car extra oomph through the fat of the mid-range torque curve.

If anything, I'm thinking the turbo is the baby in this bath water. Fours seats, GT express. Hopefully aero svelte and not gaudy like the 997 Turbo with grills and plastic holes here and there. ***** out acceleration, then retina detachment as the 410mm ceramic rotors clamp down on the rotation of the planet. With the GT3 at 470, 500 for the RS in deference to the 997 RS 4.0, then the turbo could be 670hp to keep up with the market ... ? : ) Whatever they do, maybe even go straight to hybrid in the Turbo, but I imagine they save that until the 918 has its day in the lime light (sorry) you know the turbo will be just a respectful decimal or three slower than the 918 Hybrid thing.

You're probably right, however the real estate they have to work with in terms of differentiating performance between models is getting smaller and smaller. With a "plain jane" GT3 now doing 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and 0-124 in less than 12 seconds, and finite limits to how much power you can put to the road on street tires (much less actually use), the performance delta among these cars is becoming academic!

They also speculated that RWS might be optional on the Turbo, imagine that standard on the GT3 and optional on the Turbo, you would think that should have been reverse LOL

Why should it? RWS is obvious for the GT3, but not for the Turbo.

Based on what? Certainly nothing historical. RWS makes more sense with awd to combat power understeer and thw Turbo has been the gadget machine. There is nothing to suggest that rws would be more fitting on the gt3.

Porsche is clearly compensating for something. And we know what that is.

Yes they are compensating for something with RWS: phase lag.

The GT3 will post better lap times with RWS. Lap times have, for right or wrong, become a benchmark for sports cars manufacturers. In particular important for a track oriented car like the GT3. Just the next step after dynamic engine mounts, torque vectoring, etc.

Still,is Porsche really going to leave us with just the C2 and C2S with a manual transmission?! This really really really sucks for me!!!
If none of the more exciting models like the Turbo,GT3 or GT2 will have a manual then it's going to be a HUGE disappointment!
I was going to spec a 991 C2 S,but then I saw the 991 GT3 around the same price,so I said maybe this will work...it looks great and I don't mind any of the new stuff but I just can't get over that PDK only!
So it looks like my search is back on for a garage queen 997.2 GT3 or RS...

neanicu. I believe for you getting a nice 3.8RS makes perfect sense. Keep it a long long time and enjoy it. Its the last of the breed!

IMHO I would rather PDK than the 7 speed manual in the 991S. From the only two I know who own one (both devout manual fans) both regret ordering it that way after trying a PDK recently for a number of days.

Ive just read an interesting thread on a european forum. Some inside information that tied in with some information that was indicated to me from Porsche.

The 991 GT3RS will be 3.8L and PDK. No knowledge yet if manual will be an option but this could be the case. Its likely to make 495-500 hp. The engine will be same derivative as 991 GT3. A capacity increase will wait for the MKII version to arrive. The wider body has already been used so in this case optic enhancements are likely to be reserved to decals, rear wing, wheels and new bucket seats. Increased use of composites and lighter seats, plastic rear window may see weight reduction around 45kg over new 991 GT3. No obvious technology improvements but likely more track oriented suspension and tuning.

If you are not a fan of the new PDK GT3 and dont want to chance the fact the 991 GT3RS will be launched in 2014 with the PDK as only choice it would seem to me a good time for you to but the 3.8 GT3.
