It was a joke.

Only time my wife has driven my car (RS at the time) was at the runway at a GT Smokies event hitting 150mph. She has no other interest and now all my toys are manuals, which she's not able to drive.
She has her Macan GTS and is very happy with it. Dealership gave her a base Macan as a loaner a couple weeks ago and her comment to me "this car is totally boring compared to mine"... which at least made me feel kind of good that she could tell the difference.

EDIT -- I let my 16 year old daughter (17 now) drive the RS when she had her learners permit. We actually pulled up to one of her driving lessons in it and the instructor was pretty blown away. LOL

Eventually she got it going but was not pleased.

It also doesn't help that she can't reach the pedals, especially a full depress of the clutch.

So, since she has been on manual driving lessons, taken up karting and went to Dirt Fish rally school last September for her bday (was her choice). Now she wants to rally race a 3RS and join a GT racing series. She has her first track day in a Miata coming up next month. Before this she wanted a horse.. thinking the horse would have been cheaper!
Think again, the horse is way way more expensive in the long run. I'm an equine vet and the money that is spent on show horses make the car thing look like kids play.

Now add to the fact that we live in San Francisco, CA .. Horses in the Bay Area in general is not a hobby for the masses. She used to do dressage in her teens/twenties and I can imagine those horses come with a high purchase price, maintenance, garage, training, float and tow truck... etc .. etc

Yep, my wife drives all of my (our) cars although she hasn't driven the Radical yet. I usually ask permission to drive the Spyder since we treat that as her car.

Heck, even my daughter (now 20) has driven all of the cars.

Where's Mooty when we need him? I'm sure he will have some classic comments...

Exactly! My wife can drive the Touring or GT2RS any damn time she pleases. Which is never, she doesn't care for either of them. I can talk her into riding as a passenger in the Touring, just barely, forgot about the RS though.

My 14 year old drives the Touring - on private roads, and with me as a passenger. He's now become very good at driving manuals. Passing on the skills to do that to the next generation.

I love both of these cars dearly. But if you can't even share with close family, what's the point.

You nailed it. Same here.

However, I do allow people I know and trust as good drivers to dive my RS. Spread the joy!

So for all the gents that have their WAGs driving their manual GT3s, do any of you have a short WAG under 5ft 3in? If so how are they reaching the clutch pedals, I need a solution (and not cable tying stuff to the pedals). Thoughts?

My wife is 5’3” and she moves the seat up as comfortably safe as possible, and has to use the ends of her feet to depress the clutch fully... but in all honesty, you don’t need the clutch to go all the way to the floor for it to disengage enough for a gear change. Hope this helps.

Good thing she is slower than me on the track.
Which is her favorite? What about you?
