The Porsche Whisperer
Andreas Preuninger.
I know most of us have watched countless interviews with this guy but this one below just does it for me. I totally relate to him on his views on driving and enjoyment. Not only is he a major car guy, but he comes across as a genuinely good person - a total gentlemen. He really listens to his customers and what we want. That is why the GT4/Spyder now has a throttle blip button, the 991.2 GT3 was optioned with a manual, the GT cars remain NA, the 981 GT4/Spyder got the 911S engine, the F6 is coming back to the 718, the GT3 Touring is available for those who couldn't get a 911R....I could go on but this guy really wants to meet our demands.
I don't know what Porsche is going to do when he retires. I hope they are training someone up (which is impossible because these traits are innate).
Does anybody know what his RL username is? He is on here. I guarantee it. Check out this video. It is awesome (I know it is 7 days old)

I would put it differently and say Porsche has lost their R&D budget and is just delivering every possible minimal R&D combo of existing products.
Reminds me of Apple.

You make money by selling a product, and you give the customers what they want? Seems like good sense. Kudos.

AP leads what is arguably the strongest division of Porsche, its GT division. With the exception of the 991.1 GT3 engine, just about everything AP and Co. touches turns to gold. I could see him being elevated to CEO someday but perhaps he is too much of a car guy and not enough of a business guy to a) be interested or b) be offered the job. He certainly is charming and he knows his car stuff inside and out. I feel fortunate to own a car for which he oversaw its design and production.

When AP retires, I expect Frank-Steffen Wallsier to take over the GT program.

I admit, I am an AP fan boy. He jumped into Janko Lind’s video, and gave Janko a bunch of time with Frank-Steffen Walliser (I look forward to a video on that next).
I think Walliser (FSW — should we go with initials yet?) gets it and will do very well for enthusiasts.

Perhaps we have different definitions of ‘strongest.’ If you are talking about sales, SUV division. If you are talking about quality of product, GT division. In my opinion, anyway. Nothing special about the Macan and Cayenne, to me. I would look elsewhere if I were in the SUV market.

The one getting the most investment now and going forward is the electric "division". Just have to hope and pray the traditional side and GT doesn't lose the plot like M division did with BMWs kicking off i-everything.

Fact is there is no dearth of R&D at either company. Moreover, selling what their customers want is why Porsche (and Apple) keep rolling up profits and returning value.
