Rear carpet / noise canceling GT3 VS. R vs. RS

Dear guys,

I crawled in the rear of my (clubsport :roflmao:) GT3 yesterday to prepare for DSC installation. Then I thought, lets see how it sounds without the carpet / noise dimming and drove bit whit that thing lifted. WTF! Ok, a bit too much but gorgeous. Something in between of standard and no dimming would be nice.
I remember, the R and also the .2 RS have reduced noise dimming. Is this maybe that part with a bit less material? In the PET I can not find any hinds for different parts.

Has someone advice?

Chers

Totally different parts.

The .2 GT3RS and .2 GT2RS have these new thin carpets (they look like floor mats) to cover the rear seats area.

In my previous 991.1 GT3 RS, the carpets were ticker, similar or the same as the 991.2 GT3. I have yet to see the inside of a 911 R (991), and likely I will get to see the interior when I buy my own R.

I replaced mine with regular automotive carpeting, with no foam core.

you can just remove the some of the foam its simple, bread knife pretty ideal

I love these projects. No need for sound insulation for track-focused cars... in the spirit of the Clubsport RSes in the 993 & 964 era!!

Wonder what the .2rs part number is for rear carper

as I want my touring to sound like RS

Cay_PI 07-10-2019 07:42 AM

The PET doesn't give me the part numerbs from the RS? Should fit in the GT3 as easy replacement. Can soeone help out with the #? Can not be expensive. I don't want to work with a cutter on the original carpet ;)

Just rip it out - in the .2 RS its held in with velcro I cant imagine its any different to the R or GT3. Took me less than 5 minutes :) if that given roll cage and LWBs.

How much louder are we talking about? 50%? 100%?

I'm of the opposite camp, I put more insulation in the back of the car so that I can do the muffler deletes (both center and sides) and not kill my hearing.

Engine parts noise + 100%, induction noise +60%, muffler noise +40% when removing at all. Sounds like a racecar, ecxept the gear whine.

What I want is a stock piece from R / .2 RS which is not entirely naked. So maybe a bit less.

There isn't even velcro in the GT3. The insulation foam sticks enough. Easy to remove. But I don't want to have the car "naked". Thats why I need the .2 RS part.

The thickness was variable in mine in terms of the foam backing - around the central tunnel the white foam appeared quite thick at least 1cm perhaps more - in the back seat space the carpet is pretty thin perhaps a few mm thickness. By velcro I should have said velcro like. :)

Ah ok... I talked about the piexce of carpet in the very back of the car. The one you see when you look from the outside of the car through the back window :D
