Standalone electric still sucks due to all the weight. Even my lowly tuned manual T does 60-130 almost a second faster than a P100D (9.5 vs 10.5ish) even though it would hand me my *** in the 1/4 mile. Gt3 is more like 2 sec faster with pdk vs p100D. In fact, 60-130 for a model 3 performance is over 13 seconds! Believe dat!!! Regular people confuse quickness with fast. On the other hand if Porsche could add a buttload of tq for a couple hundred pounds would you say no? Tough call

Looks like the front "Smile" is going to be split into two?

992 RS may go Turbo.

I have no inside info, just an educated guess.

You asked, OP.
I think the GT3 will be the same engine etc as the Speedster (ITBs, GPF etc)

It would seem really really really archaic to have the 2020 GT3 battle out in this rapidly evolving new reality without some technological innovation involving hybrid/kers. The situation will be worse come 2025 where a pure n/a GT3 will be even more outdated power plant-wise no matter what they do to the venerable flat-6. Of course maybe they can innovate even more and come up with a 10K rpm engine that puts out 600hp and is reliable etc. etc. Time will tell, but I suspect when the first really good electric sports cars (not sporty sedan) comes out everyone's expectations will be shattered. If a mid-range model 3 performance sedan can do as well as it does against conventional sports sedans (M3/C63/Giulia QV) then imagine what a dedicated well designed sports car with battery technology from 5 years from now will do ....

Addendum: seems even Lamborghini too... https://carbuzz.com/news/lamborghini...e-ferrari-sf90
This is coming sooner or later but I think Porsche knows it’s customers don’t want that in there GT3 or 3RS. 2RS maybe and Turbo S likely. No inside info but my logic.

Why increasing the hp/tq with hybrid if a lighter car can do that better?
EXACTLY!
