Looking at a 2018 GT3 and a 2019 GT3RS. The GT3 is at a used car dealer who agreed to take it to Kelly Moss for PPI. It has a little over 7k miles. The RS is at a Porsche dealer in Chicago and has a little over 1k miles.

Since I’m new to the brand, I’m wondering if it would be ok to just have the Chicago Porsche dealer do PPI and give me a DME report, or should I have it taken to a 3rd party to avoid conflict of interest?

Should I expect the one at the Porsche dealer to be CPO and still have the factory warranty?

What else should I look out for?

I am leaning towards the RS because I like the looks better, especially with the Weissach package. The price difference really isn’t a concern. The only reason I considered the GT3 is that it has a manual transmission, but I do have other MT cars that I can scratch that itch with.

Any advice on what questions to ask or what to look out for would be much appreciated.

Here is my opinion. Definitely buy the 1k mile RS if you can afford it. I wouldn't worry about PPI on a car that new if I'm buying from a dealer. Usually CPO it anyway (I would ask for that in my negotiation). DME doesn't matter with PDK. Almost impossible to over rev. I love the PDK while my other Porsche's are stick. GL

My main concern on seeing the DME is to gauge how the car was broken in. I searched around the forum and it seems that there is quite the argument about if/how these engines should be broken in. Is that also something I shouldn’t have to worry about?

I assume the original warranty is transferable too, correct?

you'll get a wide range of opinions on that. Trakcar turns the key the first time and mashes foot to floor in the straightest line between dealer and track...

I bought my yr15 w 3800 miles in it. It was a 1 owner and I bought it sight unseen. Zero issues w mine. Only pics provided. Dont worry. You'll get a great car whether it's the gte or rs. Just buy the one you really like.

It’s Napleton Westmont. What is a Rennfax BTW? Like a Carfax, but specific to Porsche?

Negotiate hard $, and get CPO for the RS. You will love it.

Also - not sure if you've read up on it - but WP arguably adds very little performance to these cars, and isn't cheap. Plenty of others to choose from.

Just have the dealer include a CPO warranty on the RS. No need for PPI. DME scan is not needed with a PDK car.
A Weissach RS under MSPR sounds pretty good.

If they won't or can't CPO the car, I'd find out why.

Get CPO. They cannot do CPO if the car has over revs. I was present when the dealer inspected my GT3 in for trade. They put it on the lift and up in the air. Inspected the bottom. Computer was scanning the DME codes, no wires attached. All good.

I drove the GT3 with the manual and loved it, but have never had a PDK car before. I like variety and also don’t mind a stiff suspension. I have other manual cars, so am leaning towards something with PDK.
