.2 noise GT3

I am lucky have 2 993s with 20k miles - C4s and cab, they are pretty quiet.

Today I fell in love with a GT3 graphite blue metallic manual but in my excitement the noise did not register with me. It was just part of the experience. My last new 911 was in 2006. Pretty quiet and my daily driver has been a Vantage. Loud but not a obnoxious.

To the GT3 owners ( my wife has good hearing) is this car too loud for a ride in the country on a Sunday if I don’t lean on it?

I appreciate any thoughts here, I put a deposit on it.

Thanks

Not at all. Leave the sport exhaust button off and the only noise is a light mechanical symphony.

Thanks very much.

In my opinion, its super quiet with valves closed and driven normally.
My wife was relieved just how quiet it is, as she hates attracting much attention.

Thanks very much.
The car is ridiculous as u know.
Im not a spoiler guy but the car is naked without it.

With valves closed it is very quiet. More tire road noise than anything on the hwy at 65-70

My wife drives mine all the time and I have a grp exhaust on mine. No complaints. Not even when she drives my straight piped m5. Your wife will be fine.

The car is pretty quiet when not on it, but sounds like a full blown race car when into it. My neighbors only marginally hate me when i come in at night. 😁

Like others have said with the valves closed in cabin is very quiet. On the outside the vehicle is extremely loud above 4.5k with the valves on or off.

This is a losing battle.

My partner told me last night that the seats are "not good for sitting in". I proceed to shower her where the height adjustment and for/backward lever was. That was met with stares.

She then wanted to put lipstick on, luckily there is a mirror in the visor but, I advised to wait until we were on the highway, San Francisco streets and GT3 suspension don't make for good make-up application.

Once she was in and seated, with makeup on, at the right height she got into the feel of the car and enjoyed it.

Transmitted tire noise is the biggest issue and this depends on where you live and the quality of roads. OP, I don’t know where you live but if it’s in the PACNW with chewed up roads due to studs in winter, then be prepared for a very noisy cabin. If not, then as I discovered driving through Europe on good quality roads it’s loud, but not so loud while cruising to be obnoxious. Now at home with rutted roads it’s pretty obnoxious.

Finally you don’t say if it is a touring or not- that also makes a difference as the touring is a little louder coming from some people here on Rennlist. Sound deadening can be added to the car fairly easily- see here https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...l#post15852615

It's an uphill battle getting the SO to love the GT3 if she/he isn't into cars. Showing them the manual level to move forward and back elicits a "You paid EXTRA for these seats?!" is good for a thousand laughs. At some point you just got to embrace the loudness, stiffness and directness of these and roll with it. If she/he doesn't like it then they don't have to ride. :D

My wife likes the buckets. We did 8 straight days in Europe in them with no problem. I know everyone has their reasons, but imho they make the car and suit the car. Also, you should have no issue with sound.
