I didn't bid on it because it didn't have a single mass flywheel which is part of the R experience for me, perhaps not for you. I have noticed that the dual mass flywheel cars are trading much lower, but not many Rs for sale out there.

SMFW or not, it’s incredible to see how far 911R prices have dropped. the GT3 touring has done exactly what PAG intended. feel bad for the guys who paid anywhere from 100k to 300k over sticker for one.

The 911r with dual mass fly wheel is the equivalent of a perfect air-cooled car with an automatic transmission vs manual. And the value of the single mass flywheel cars with the proper buckets and houndstooth with under 2k miles still hasn't changed from the 300-325k level...which is still 100k-125k over sticker range. GT2rs' are sticker cars as well as GT3rs' and GT3s...which the exception of the touring which is still 10-15k over because... ... ...it resembles the R. You won't be seeing good R prices going south, they hit the bottom already. Granted for a dual mass, that was a HELL of a buy!

I imagine that one could add SMFW to this car easily and relatively inexpensively. I think the ECU even adjusts on its own (doesn't require specific PIWIS coding). Not advisable to do this to a .2 car due to the new crankshaft though...

Correct. Cost only about $6.5k including labor.

Thanks, certainly less expensive than swapping in a new manual gearbox for an automatic in an air-cooled car

Yeah, I don't think there's a 100k difference between the dmfw and smfw.

Gotta feel sorry for those 911R owners that thought they would soar, especially how Porsche led them to believe it would be so exclusive with a numbered plaque.

Those who knew about it and were intending to bid on it of course would not want to draw attention to the auction (and attract more bidders) while in progress!

It was a premium listing with over 27K views and close to 1500 people watching it until close, myself included. It wasn't that secretive of an auction. I think it was bought well but not too far off from where they should be selling with the Touring out.
