The first failure happened on Wednesday afternoon on a 991.2. RS.The car puked oil from turn 2 all the way to the bus stop, lots of smoke, I looked at the car, no damage except a melted lic plate frame, and lots of oil covering the back bumper....no one knows what happened to it ,but the driver had power and kept driving until they red flagged all of us.
The second failure happened on Friday afternoon to a 991.1 RS with many many track miles. The car lost power and puked oil and coolant at turn 2. The driver pulled off quickly because the car was dead, no engine parts or any metal was ejected.
That is all the information that is available for now.
I know one of the drivers very well, so if he does provide more information and doesn’t mind it being published, I would follow up here.
l am baffled at the new RS catastrophic failure ....

There are other threads for Mclaren stuff...
Let's try to keep this thread for information regarding the 991.2 GT3 RS engine failures.

I was at my local dealer yesterday and a GT Silver .1RS was in service with the PDK dropped. It broke at the track and was towed in I was told. Porsche rep was in reviewing it when I was there and I was told that the PDK was fine but something in the flywheel broke. They didn’t think Porsche was to cover it sighting track use.
Makes me re-think all this taking mine to the track.....very bummed to here this. Wish I knew more about the outcome.

Seems hard to me to deny a warranty claim because of track use with a car that is sold as a track oriented vehicle and part of the paperwork given with the car talks about track usage and the changing of the maintenance intervals because of it. Be interesting to hear if it's denied and why they would deny that claim. Plenty of the cars that have had issues have been on track when parts failed and they were covered. Not sure why this would be an exception.
