Default Is weissach pack suitable for track?

I would say no. Would the nonWP be more suitable for a mainly track driven car? What do you guys think?

P.S. It’s a shame that roughly 2/3 of US cars are WP. Is it because they got crazy with ADMs so no one bought them, consequently the dealers spec’d the unsold allocations to max msrp?

I spec'd mine WP and track it. WP significantly set it apart visually from my 991.1rs; that's it. I've seen plenty at the track spec'd WP; none of them self destructed that day? Why is it such a shame? If you want one w/out WP, pick one from the gobs that are available. If you want one w/WP, pick one from the gobs that are available. If you want a 991 GT to track at an even more reasonable value proposition, pick one of the gobs of 991.1rs or 991.2-3 that are available. Choices are good; you have many. Buy one and hit the track. I'll see you out there in my shameful WP

Well, it depends on your definition of "track"

If it is to park the car at the track and appreciate the WP, then i guess yes it is a personal choice

If you are referring to this in terms of performance improvements, then no, its not, but then by the same logic you will very quickly conclude that an RS is not a good track car to chase times in either and you will inevitably end up with a decision between getting a cup car or a 718 club sport to chase times in, as it will be cheaper and more suitable for its intended use - that is chasing track times all over the place.

One thing i have come to realize is that in reality the RS is a good DE car, but as you get more serious into performance driving and push the car and yourself towards your limits the risk reward trade-off works against you.

And here all this time I thought the track was just a place to park/admire my car and get bad coffee. I didn't realize I was supposed to actually put my car on the circuit?

The 991rs is a plush toy you can choose to put on track or not. WP, leather, dev stitch, pts, Bose, etc, etc.......it's all just options people can tick or not tick. They are fun and well built cars and they perform and hold up pretty well vs the competition for DE. They aren't race cars.

Why would it not be? It's a little lighter so that's always good...otherwise it's still a great track car.

It for sure helps since it makes the car lighter, and it looks cool as hell. I doubt most of us would feel such a slight weight loss though. But a battery from anitgravity and side deletes will save you a whole lot of cash and net you so much more weight lost. I would still say WP is damn cool though and if I had a chance at an RS right now I probably would.

WP is total crap on track. That's why Porsche kept it off of 2RS and 3RS Ring time cars.....

In all seriousness, Mg wheels bring a much larger performance benefit over WP pkg. Just mind the curbs.

WP and non-WP, there both just street cars. One is much nicer to look at on the street. I prefer it to Non-WP

I love the "JDM" look of WP, brings back the good old days. And I've enjoyed the 2 track events that I've been to so far. Now it's time for summer break due to the heat so I'll had a few track mods and a proper alignment & corner balance.

This is how it begins.

Your fast street car got you into DE's

You sell fast street car and get dedicated non-street-legal track car

Now you need a big tow vehicle and trailer

and a place to store track car, tow rig, and trailer in between weekends

Real racing is fun but this eventually becomes such a chore that you sell it all and get

a nice fast street car to do DE's in

No it’s not shameful, good for you! I just think it’s a shame so many cars ended up not selling and getting speced by the dealer in ways that don’t make sense.

On the flip side as you mentioned there are gobs of WP cars that you can still buy brand new now.

WP works for me. Get a ton of complements at PCA events. WP looks good in white. Running 19 inch Forgelines and Hoosiers now with ST CCM rotors and Antigravity battery. It's not a race car, but I'm faster than some😬

To date, I had done about every color on a Porsche EXCEPT yellow (no, not every shade of every color.......I’m not Rudy!). It was a LOTTA yellow on a car that big. However WP+yellow worked for me and now I’ve completed my Porsche skittles ownership experience. Yellow Jackets .

This was in between staring sessions at Brands with my WP RS
