Default Sub 3000lb GT3

So let me first start off by saying I’m not a track junkie by any means. Least not yet. This is strictly just a silly idea that I thought I’d try to make come to fruition. Porsche states manual gt3 weighs 3116lbs. So my goal is to get sub 3k.(2950 would be fantastic) Magnesium wheels are already on order. Should be here in a couple weeks. Now those were bought primarily because I think they are the best looking wheel for the car. They happen to be ~33lbs lighter as well so that’s a good start. I’ll list what I have proposed.

Magnesium wheels ~33lbs
gmg center section ~10lbs (installed now)
jcr titanium race ~ 53lbs
antigravity battery ~33lbs (whenever they come back in stock)

GMG was an impulse buy went in for tints and ended up with tints and exhaust. Sounds amazing no issues at all. I know myself and I will end up with jcr sooner or later. Anywho that’s a total of ~119 which would put me around 2997. Which is great. Where else could weight be reduced? Potential 40lbs? Tools in the trunk? Not doing headers. Had enough of the cel and rejection sticker issues with my M4. Also where would one weigh his car now prior to get a baseline? Thanks

JB

What's the weight of the rear wing and uprights? Does a same spec Touring weigh less than a winged manual? (not applicable to your build, I know)

Good question. Haven’t been able to find the answer to weight of touring. I know the R is 3021lbs but totally different animal.

I think the cost / benefit proposition starts to get really tough after that for a street car. interested to see you hit sub 3k on the scales.

Speaking of scales where could I find one? I thought of the scrap yard, but don’t want to be “that guy” lol. Highway truck scale?

I've made similar mods: (1) Akrapovic full race exhaust (all mufflers deleted) and (2) BBS magnesium wheels. The next easy one is the battery, which you've already done. After that, it starts getting pricey.

You could do lightweight glass from the T / 3RS for your rear quarter glass and windshield. Think that's roughly $3,500-4,000 for the parts. Would save 5+ pounds and have the added benefit of letting in more noise.

Aftermarket ceramic rotors.. switching from steel saves you approx 10lb/wheel, 40lb total.. in reality it's 4x that because it's unsprung weight..

do you want to drive it on the road? Take out the passenger seat, radio. glove box, cup holders, head liner, just about anything you can unbolt that won't affect the car. Also swap the rear window and side glass with plastic. passenger mirror, not sure if you can pull the AC unit, but there has to some weight in the AC compressor and the electronics connecting all the vents, vent box etc etc. That would prob get you 100 lbs

Weighed my buddies 991.2 3rs with Weissach package and the light wheels with aftermarket(lighter) exhaust with about 1/3 tank gas and it was 3131. Not sure how Porsche comes up with an official weight but I think the 3116 you list might be a little optimistic on their part.
Have you actually weighed yours? Would be interesting to see how the list weight compares to actual.

The rear carpet insert is easy to remove and probably weighs ~10lbs. Not too ugly with it removed, either.

I believe -Porsche lists the Gt3 with lightest possible configuration. Manual, PCCB, No LEDS, no leather ect.

Not sure what options you’re starting with but keep that in mind.
