Don't forget to POOP! that alone can be up to 4lbs. Take a Diuretic to remove as much water from your body as possible. OR, keep your foot down, while driving over your head, you have no time to worry about the the weight

GT3 aint no Miata. Go fast mods cost $$$$$$$. Removing the under carpet sound deadening is probably the best bang for the buck DIY. That stuff is surprisingly very heavy

I think spec'ing the car correctly from factory is key too.

1. Base interior
2. No bose
3. No FAL
4. No led headlights
5. No extended fuel tank
6. PCCB
7. Manual

This will get you the lights spec from the get go. 3120ish probably

Then
BBS Mag wheels
JCR titanium race pipe
Antigravity battery

That should put you right at 3000lbs. Anything more than this is a waste of time and money.

Do we actually know the weights of the options?
Bose - 10lbs?
FAL - 10lbs?
LED - heard these were like 12lbs?
Leather interior - someone said actually weighs less. Not sure I believe it but possible.
Extended tank - not counting fuel cant be much
PCCB - saves 35ish?
LWB - 30ish?

Guessing on all of this. I tried to go as light weight as possible on mine but cheated a little with FAL and Full leather.

FAL weighs 15.5 lbs for the pneumatic one on the GT3 and half that for the hydraulic one on the RS.

My Touring has PCCB, bucket seats, base xenon headlights, Lift, Bose, extended tank. If the 3116 lbs were accurate based on the lightest spec, plus 15.5 lbs for the lift, and 6 lbs Bose for over stock audio (some thread here showed that was the difference I think) then my car stock would have been about 3137.5 lbs.

I did the following:
- Antigravity RS-30 battery -34 lbs
- Dundon Race Headers -50 lbs
- Dundon Black Muffler +7.6 lbs
- BBS FI-R -28 lbs

So technically, my car should now weight 3031.1 lbs depending on fluids. But I’ve never weight it before of after. But does feel noticeably better when changing direction and when flooring it from 4.5k in 1st gear.

Might consider removing the under carpet sound deadening at some point. It’s primarily a weekend car and don’t think I’d mind the loudness. But I’d have to know exactly how much weight that would save to see its even worth it. If it’s 20 lbs, probably not. If it’s 35-40 lbs, then I just might.

Why is 3000 lbs the magical line of demarcation?

Why not 2900? Or 3100?

Is it just some nice round number?

There has to be a balance between HP/Weight ratio and total weight of the car, otherwise you're just shedding pounds to meet some made-up line of demarcation of what's lightweight and what's not lightweight.

If you ever get to a scale, post it up. curious to know what your touring weighs. I’m with you on the sound deadening. Id like it a bit louder and a little more raw. Why I’m leaning race pipes.

No rhyme or reason just silly idea. If I wasn’t getting the wheels I probably would even be thinking about it. If exhaust system and potential tune can add 35whp that will put the manual gt3 at 500 to the wheel. That paired with less than 3000lbs would just be a nice combo imo. I don’t need or want anything faster than that.

The only weight savings which you have a chance at even feeling, let alone providing any measurable performance advantage , is unsprung weight from brakes and wheels..

the rest is just mental masturbation math.

As Alan C wondered,
could you stand to lose 10lbs?
Seems F1 driver's are often small

Porsche states manual gt3 weighs 3116lbs. So my goal is to get sub 3k.(2950 would be fantastic) Magnesium wheels are already on order. Should be here in a couple weeks. Now those were bought primarily because I think they are the best looking wheel for the car. They happen to be ~33lbs lighter as well so that’s a good start. I’ll list what I have proposed.

Magnesium wheels ~33lbs
gmg center section ~10lbs (installed now)
jcr titanium race ~ 53lbs
antigravity battery ~33lbs (whenever they come back in stock)

GMG was an impulse buy went in for tints and ended up with tints and exhaust. Sounds amazing no issues at all. I know myself and I will end up with jcr sooner or later. Anywho that’s a total of ~119 which would put me around 2997. Which is great. Where else could weight be reduced? Potential 40lbs? Tools in the trunk? Not doing headers. Had enough of the cel and rejection sticker issues with my M4. Also where would one weigh his car now prior to get a baseline? Thanks

JB
I was thinking to do some weight shaving off my manual GT3,
BBS FI-R -27lbs
JCR full system or Akrapovic -50lbs
Lightweight Battery -30lbs
Lightweight flywheel -10lbs and quicker revs
RS rear and side glass -5lbs and more sound in the cabin

That is what i had in mind.
