I paid under MSRP (actually I paid $18K over but I got to spec the car w/o the $20K worth of options I didn't want).

Not all depreciate. 993 is one example there are others. 1973 Carrera RS is worth a lot because of the way it drives even though 1560 or so were built. Time will tell if this is true of the Touring.

Next GT3 Touring will also have a big rear end (love the front though) and a video game/Panamera interior.

I think it is about 720 Touring in North America. Not sure the world wide number.

Actually, I answered my own question; something like 2050 total N.A. manual 3's (winged and touring combined). That sound about right?

Reviving this thread to see how this comment is aging in today's GT3T market.

Car values are up all the way around. I got more for my 17 R8 on trade than I was offered almost 18 months ago. We'll see what boat all 991 owners are in when the 992s hit.

More buyers out than the cars available. know of recent transaction of low mileage car still brings over msrp. Don't think the 992 will affect the value that much. only time will tell.

I am only one buyer but with the luxury hi-tech interior, inferior looks IMHO and reduced sound I don't think I will want the 992. It does not make any difference to me how fast the lap time is. It is all about the driving enjoyment for me. If the 992 ends up being way more fun to drive I may change my mind and put up with the interior and exterior. I think that is highly unlikely though. The 991.2 is already plenty fast for the street and near perfect in every way IMHO.

Agree with Berjar above. Don’t care about “faster”. The touring is just a blast to drive and look at.

IMO (and others) there isn’t anything out there that is a “replacement” or “equivalent” in the same price range.

if anyone wants to throw 911r money at me for my touring (only car I consider selling it for) - then we can talk. Otherwise I’ll keep racking up the miles. Apparently it’s not hurting the value. 😂

Agreed....I was looking forward to a 992 that I would spec as a Touring and hopefully PTS in Brewster Green. I miraculously found and bought a CPO 991 GT3T in Brewster Green a little over a year ago and figured I'd trade it in for a 992 GT3T.....now I don't see the point, so I'm passing.

991 car I think visually looks better on the exterior, especially for the Touring if the only change is removing the wing.
991 interior is cleaner....gauges, steering wheel, etc.
991 probably sounds better, but unclear.
992 faster around a track, good for bragging rights, but if that was important to me, I'd get the wingy anyway.
992 Tourings are going to exist in way higher numbers, as will PTS. Might as well hold on to the OG.

There just seems to be no compelling reason to want to upgrade....I'm sure the new car is slightly better, but "meh".
....
Here's a different thought.....997.2 GT3 is probably > 991.1 GT3 in terms of desire at the moment, and we're only 5 years post 991.1 GT3 production, so if you're always chasing newer = better, that doesn't seem to be proven out.

I'm instead ordering a 992 Targa 4 GTS for the wife (and I'll steal it a bunch) as a good all weather car that she rather drive/ride in, and the big butt of the Targa matches the 992 proportions anyway. Keeping the 991 GT3T that will continue to get majority of my miles.

If enthusiasts that have owned 991 and 992 GT3's talk about how much of a better driving experience the 992 is, then maybe I'll consider a wingy 992.2 in the future.

makes sense . I am debating pulling the trigger now on a 991.2 touring at way over MSRP with current market, or waiting for the 992 gt3 Touring, of which i have an allocation. Almost seem like either vehicle would be roughly the same spend... if you had neither car currently, what direction would you go ?

Generally I favor buying ASAP because time is more precious than money. I purchased a GT3T in August. Prices seemed high then but jesus they are crazy now. I couldn't pull the trigger at today's prices knowing that the 992 is imminent and with it declines in 991.2 prices. I'd sit tight and watch how things unfold with an openness to consider either 991.2 or 992 as we learn more about both the 992 spec and the 991.2 price decrease that will surely come.
