Default How often do you need to drive this car?

Hah, definitely a newbie question, but I have never owned a car like this and figured I’d ask the experts.

Unfortunately this is a weekender that I’m not often able to drive due to various factors, including having young kids, etc. Maybe twice a month? I’m just wondering how long is too long for a car like this to sit in your garage without starting it up and driving it around? Getting the gasoline going and all the parts moving.

And any tips for winterizing it when it will likely sit in my garage for months at a time?

I want to make sure I’m doing the right thing, and that I’m not too worried about something I may not need to be worried about as well. I suspect many cars sit on dealer lots for months at a time untouched and are just fine.

Thank you!

I think I've gone more than a month without driving it due to vacation trip. No battery trickle charger either. I wouldn't worry about it unless you're gonna go 2-3 months at a time. Then maybe invest in a trickle charger.

I drove mine in dry salt free winter days. She seemed happier.

Throw it on a trickle charger - they don't like when the battery droops but as long as you have it on the trickle charger should be no problem. My Targa top gave me fits with the slightest battery droop, but that's the only one i've ever had trouble with.

Put Stabil in your gas if you aren't driving it at least 2 tankfulls per year. And run a tank out to almost empty, then fill up with a whole tank of fresh.

You drove in winter on those Cup tires? Are they ok with temps around 30-40 deg F and dry?

The longest I let them sit is 3 weeks. After that I gotta start it up, and hopefully drive enough to get it warmed up. That's just my policy.

They are fine at those temps but slick as heck so one needs to be careful.

When we had very few salt free Winter days in Chicago I would also take mine out

I’ve found the only car that gives fits when not driven are my 997s. It’s like they disintegrate!

That will be me! Not fitting winters on these satin black Matte rims. I'll be slipping along on dry, cold pavement in my Cup 2's- probably once every 2-3 weeks between Dec-March.

Sad tales.
