991.2 GT3 Market...what's the deal??

Cars are a depreciating asset. The advantage of the GT cars is the slow rate of depreciation compared to all non GT Porsches. Initial demand can create an artificial market condition but ultimately normality will set in and cars depreciate.
The joy of these cars is in the usage, track, street, road trips etc. not slathering them with prophylactic covers and hiding them in garages. That only benefits the next owner not you.
Drive them, the markets will take care of themselves.....my $.02

I understand OPs question. I've had the same question. I wanted to spec a GT3 of my own which I would keep for decade, if not forever. But, no. Now there are many to choose from with other people specs and not what I would have ordered. 1st world problem, but I'm not losing sleep on it. So as the generations of GT3s come out with more allocations to get rid of this ADM and preferred customer carrot on a stick play, I can wait.

Just drive the cars and enjoy and have fun...if you track the car great...if you go to cars and coffee and that the wife out in it for dinner great...doesn't matter to me. I will look at , discuss and admire Porsche's and most any sports car to muscle car anytime.

Just rough numbers, there's 159/1660 = roughly 10% of GT3s from 2018-2019 available for sale. I have no idea if this % is consistent with other models.
I figure that 991.2 GT3s will be solid value and slow to depreciate from here until the 992 GT3 is released...so maybe until about late summer 2020??

Unfortunately, I’m a petrolhead with passion, not a super rich guy, and I need to consider this when I but this awesome car, as I will for sure sell it as I’ll have future costs like baby/ new home etc ...

There are three types of cars:
1. Cars that depreciate like rocks. See McLaren, BMW, Mercedes and most non-GT Porsche cars.
2. GT cars and some other desirable cars (458, 675LT, etc.) that depreciate slowly.
3. Highly desirable cars that appreciate IF YOU DON’T drive them.
You really can’t put many miles on any car without facing depreciation.

It's quite simple - the fact that the GT3 market was commanding premiums made Porsche increase production so they weren't leaving money on the table. They are the regulator of the market, eventually the law of supply and demand would apply....now the question is, with so many cars sitting unsold, will this mean demand for the new GT3 will be comparatively soft?

I really admire people who have the patience to wait. I just did my 6th track day this season, the thought of WAITING for next season to drive my 991.2 GT3 would kill me. Just looking at it during the winter without using it was terrible enough. The 992 GT3 won't be available in customer's hands for a couple of years, I can't see the prices "tank", although they will depreciate. Life is too short.

Based on history, the 992 GT3 will be announced in 2021 and will arrive late that year as a 2022. The dealers will need that time for all the current 991 GT cars to go away! Buy one today and forget it.

The 991.2 GT3's are nearing two years old now. Of course they are selling for less than MSRP. Even the 3RS is at or just below MSRP in most cases.
As the next best thing comes out, the prior versions get traded or upgraded. Some people get bored easily and want to switch things up.
The sky is not falling. . .
