Default Revs with clutch depressed...

Random silly question... why the HELL won’t these cars rev with clutch depressed? They sound like they’re bogging the motor when you want to blip the throttle. Yes, motor is warm, yes, I have it in sport mode... just like to do silly stuff like rev the motor going under a bridge or whatever. Yes, I know juvenile... but I’m a kid at heart, does that count?

Why don't you rev in gear under the bridge - better for the car and sounds better too. Should be able to get to some good revs in 1st or 2nd gear...

I did... and I do. Was just a weird question as to why these GT cars won’t rev with clutch depressed?

I've never tried, but maybe it's a protection mechanism. I was always taught that it's not good for the car.

Same here, dad was a mechanic my whole life... he’d frown heavily for me free reviving a motor, but sometimes I do stupid stuff like free rev a motor. When I had my 1k hp C7 you could blip the throttle from idle and it would bounce off the rev limiter because it was so responsive. This car with its sucking sound throttle plate and its heavily delayed throttle response, to not being able to free rev the motor is suuuuuuper quirky to me. Just learning these GT cars as my last 4 cars have been boosted crazy responsive cars.

Sounds like the rev limiter for launch control.

Ummmmm... dunno if you’re being “funny” or not... but since I said WITH CLUTCH DEPRESSED, I’d go out on a limb and say it’s a manual car. Mine I’m referring to which was why I asked the question. 😬

See the "Information" section at the top, in the middle. I think the "no lift shift" is the answer to your question.

I’ll bet you’re correct!!!! Thank you for that info, I’d never have thought of that. Does make sense that would be the answer to my question though.

I can rev the engine just fine with clutch in. Not sure what you're talking about. That's how you drive a manual transmission... How else are you supposed to rev match without the auto blip feature? You gotta blip the throttle and rev the engine on downshifts. If the car is preventing you from revving the engine with clutch in, then that also means you are unable to manually rev match. Doesn't make sense.
