Doesn't make sense.
In all seriousness, please enlighten me... when I depress my clutch and try to rev the motor, it will not rev. It is limited by something. Hot, cold... doesn’t matter, it won’t rev at all. If I put into sport mode, it’ll blip the throttle when I push in on the clutch but motor still won’t rev freely.

Maybe your car is broken? I dunno. Works fine in my car. If you're at a standstill, idling, the car will limit you to like 4K or 5K or something. If you are rolling—like in your scenario where you're going through a tunnel or under a bridge—then that doesn't happen. Again... that's how you rev match. If I'm in 6th gear, on the highway, and drop to 3rd or 2nd, I can manually rev the engine by blipping the throttle to rev match on the downshift. Again... just like any other normal manual transmission car.

That shouldn't matter. There have been times, with sport button on, that I've downshifted but not let the clutch out for whatever reason, and let the RPMs drop to idle (while rolling). And then I've manually blipped the throttle to rev match myself and it still works. Like if I'm in 2nd gear, I can still manually rev the engine up to 7K to rev match while moving.

I appreciate all the replies... maybe I should make a quick video to show you guys what I mean. It’s definitely quirky in my opinion. My C7 Corvette had rev match as well as no lift shift and I could free rev it to the moon... this car, not so much.

It should, at a standstill, rev to 4-5k rpm (never done it myself, but this is what it’s supposed to do).

I’ve noticed the same thing and he’s not talking about reaching the max rpm but how slow the throttle responds to pushing the gas pedal. Its not the same response as when you’re in gear and floor it. For what I remember my PDK 991.1 didn’t act this way on neutral.

Same here. Sometimes it lets you rev and sometimes it wont

Did anyone get a solution to this? @99Gdzra
My 991.2 GT3 6MT has this EXACT same problem.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Nannies are cool but there’s always a downside on how intrusive they are and if they can truly be turned off completely. My solution is costly and redundant but it is to have a 991.2-3manual for the cool technology in it, including the rev-match/no-lift-shift and own a true old-school analogue, manual option that doesn’t do anything (or minimal) for you. Everyone has a different line in the sand for where they want old-school (anti-lock brakes, power steering, electric steering, power brakes, etc, etc). I just try to embrace the 991.2-3 for what it is. It’s annoying the glitches it can throw off when trying to use it with shifting nannies off, but I’m not shocked there are still some downsides to the slick no-lift and rev-match features.
