Low Speed squeaking/scraping sound without applying brakes (2015 GT3 w/ PCCBs)
All,
I'm looking for a bit of insight here from those who've had similar issues resolved in the past. I found some good info based on my search but I have a very specific question that I couldn't find an answer to.
FWIW, my PCCBs squeal upon braking once the brakes are up to temp but are quiet on a cold start. A week or so again, I noticed a different noise coming from my GT3 when the vehicle is at low speeds with no brake pressure applied. It's a lightly audible squealing/scraping noise that increases in frequency as speed increases, and decreases as the vehicle slows down. Once you hit about 20 MPH, the sound goes away but the only reason why I think this is the case is because other noises in the vehicle are covering up the squeal/scrape noise at lower speed. Because of this, I definitely think it's something pad related, perhaps pad drag, because of the fact that (a) it happens only when the wheels are rotating and (b) this noise happens when brakes are not applied.
Does anyone have any opinions here? What is interesting here is the noise really only comes up once the brakes get up to temp. Is this typical for pad drag or do I have a different issue? Again, the noise only comes up as the vehicle is moving when the brakes are not applied, and increases in frequency of the sound as the vehicle speed changes.

How old are the pads?

I, too, had this issue with my ‘15 GT3. Took it to dealer several times and they couldn’t figure it out. Was never resolved.

I'll look into this but my only reservation is the noise only happens once the brakes are up to temp. I feel like if a rock was present, the noise would start right when the vehicle starts moving after a cold start.
It feels normal. Is there something I should be looking out for?
I'm the second owner but considering the car only have 4,000 miles, it's most likely the original pads.
Strange. Pad drag was ruled out?

I just had this for the past year in my 2018 gts 4 drivers rear wheel. In and out 3 times. First adjusted the brakes. Nothing. Got mechanic in car and he felt it was the parking brake shoes which are independent of the calipers. First he adjusted them to no avail. Then ordered new ones (or one) and squeal is gone away. Yay Pfaff Porsche Toronto.

Ok.... So not what i have experienced last week after a wrong pads installation from my dealer..... I had a soft pedal and a terrible noise with the brakes released.... My indy shop found that the problem was a metallic clip installed in a wrong way on each calipers..... Arrrrrghhhhg

I've had this albeit with steel brakes. Two things to check
1. Dust caps on the brake pistons can break down and melt under high temp use binding up the pistons and not allowing the pad to retract completely. While you're there check the ceramic pucks on the pistons for cracks and fragmenting.
2. The rotor screw- the one that holds the rotor to the hub- that can get loose and for whatever reason the rotor wobbles a little. I know, the wheel is supposed to hold the rotor on but if the screw is loose I think the rotor can be off just a little. At least tightening the screw has fixed this for me.
