I wouldn't keep either but I'd play with both for a short period of time.

Speedster, 2RS are a dime a dozen. My cleaning lady has one but it just sits in a bubble wrapped

It's simple
Drop top speedster
No drop top 2RS

GT2 RS...Absolutely. Hands down. Speedster is overpriced, IMO.

I'm not singling you out here, but it seems like your logic (along with many others here on RL) regarding ADM and other brands are flawed.

Try walking into a Ferrari showroom and buy a Pista at MSRP. See how far that gets you.

How about a deposit on an upcoming Mclaren 750LT without buying any Mclaren's prior?

Whether it's paying straight up cash as ADM or needing to buy a few undesirable cars, the game is the same across all brands for these speciality cars (eg. 488 Pista, GT3RS, etc).

P.S. You could go straight into an Aston Martin showroom and buy a brand new DBS at MSRP with no prior history. What? Don't feel like loosing 100-125k the moment you drive off the lot?

Other answer. Me personally? Since I'm just your run of the mill car guy who hasn't purchased 23 cars from my local Porsche dealer and isn't a VIP, the ADM I'd pay on both the GT2 RS and Speedster would be so high I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. Ferrari, McLaren, Lambo, maybe. I coulda bought another car with the damn ADM I paid on my "base" GT3.

To answer the OP's question ...
As of now I don't have any plans to sell the 2RS when I get the Speedster.
If I do sell it it won't be because of the Speedster, it'll be because I replaced it with a different car in the same mold as the 2RS.

I considered whether or not the Pista Spider would marry the two worlds, and in a small way it does, the same way a TTS Cab does, which is to to say it really doesn't.

Well I don't have a speedster yet so it's hard to really say but as of now I'd go for the 2RS...it's just a rocket ship of a 911 and drives unlike any other 911 I've owned.

If both are at MSRP, then it's the 2RS.

The 2RS fills a niche in the marketplace. The 991 Speedster is trying to create a niche in the marketplace.

And for the person who said every generation of RS models is better than the previous one, the same can be said about every generation of the Speedster.

I guess i was answering in terms of building a collection. I would keep the speedster/911r type cars and continually get the latest and greatest RS/GT cars.

Oh, no I get it. I don't mean buying one of those limited Pista, Apera, whatever cars. I'm talking a normal Ferrari 488, McLaren 720S, 600LT (can you get those without ADM?), Lambo Aventador SV (that's much more $$), or a Huracan (Performante, or whatever the new one is out now).

I have owned a bunch of Ferrari’s, I currently have a 488, they don’t compare to the Porsche GT stuff. Apples and hand grenades. I own A 2RS the speedster doesn’t hit me. YMMV.

Please elaborate regarding "apples to hand grenades"?

My GT2RS is very direct, immediate and focused. Has a heavy and even violent feel to it. The Ferrari is less brutal although very fast. I can probably drive the 488 faster. I am not a pro but many driving schools. The Ferrari is less effort to drive fast. Having said all that I really like both of them and glad I don’t have to choose. If the the speedster is essentially a convertible GT3 it’s no contest. I also have a .2 GT3M.

you need to know what you want with the cars you buy.

buy speedster
date rich woman
marry her
she pays for next GT2RS
divorce her and take 50% of her assets
how do you think I afford my cars when I spend all day on bike and RL
