God has plans for me to get a new engine the day before the warranty runs out.

Rob I recall from the meeting that the metallurgy of the cam and followers were changed on the newer G motors and a higher level of polishing of these components was done before the DLC coating was applied to the camshafts and followers. The oiling system was changed and filter pressure was increased. This process was started with the 911R motors so I assume that any engine built after the R went into production would have these changes.
It is my opinion that until Porsches solves these engine issues once and for all the warranty will never expire.

As I recall Frank Walliser said they made the changes to the 911R first but not sure of the chronological order of production on the .1RS/ 911R.

Ok, we know for sure the 16 GT3 had the improved oiling system because the oil filter is different on those cars. I assume the RS and GT3 were changed but not sure to what extent. We have had failures on the 16 GT3 although not at the rate of the 14 & 15.

It may be that the 16s have not yet accumulated the miles like the 14s/15s and there are less 16s made. My 3rd "G" motor sufferred the same FF issue as my "E" motor. If the 4th still has issues, it should surface in about 25,000 miles if I maintain the same use/driving habits.

I wish there was a way to easily check the wear issue but there is not. We all wait around for the dreaded light to come on. Recently our club traveled to a track 10 hrs away and one of my buddies car just stopped on the track. Fortunately his brother was also running in his GT3 and they were able to share a car and the three day track weekend was not a total loss. His engine was replaced at 30K. His car is a weak older than my 15 but he doesn't keep the revs up like I do. There is no doubt that the improvements are helping but the underlying problem remains. At low RPMs the finger followers and cam lobes are not getting oiled properly. The RS may suffer the same issue it will just take longer to show up as these cars are not used as daily drivers.

Out of curiosity, have there been any findings from Blackstone tests that have been correlated to failures? I plan to keep a running log of tests regardless but wasn’t sure if it’s something they can identify.
