Well, that statement is a misnomer.

Exhibition of speed means demonstrating velocity, not acceleration.

How is that even testable?

What is the state acceleration limit?

$440 is the fine. I don't care about the money it s the points and the principle of a discretionary law.

I was the sole car on the road.
No crowd and not showing off.
No burnout, No chirp
Half throttle to 7k in first gear.
45 mph zone in town.

Cops in Bend I have found are mostly super cool and some are jerks. Probably like most towns.

I don't think a cop who may be upset that my car is 3 times his yearly salary, should able to write a serious ticket based on what he thinks is too much acceleration.

I am all for paying a ticket for breaking the law, but not this.

I will driving different in the future. Heads up to you all as well!

He was a good guy and knew his stuff about Porsche’s.

Maybe just depends where in the country you are?
Pretty much everyone in the South is friendlier than everyone in the Northeast. It isn't just the police. LOL

In Virginia they have the largest racketeering organization : for something like this you go to jail MANDATORY and they take your car away. Good luck getting leniency in that state from the judge! From what I've been reading it is the worst state in the US when it comes to racketeering...

Yes, basically the bluer the state politically, the worse the situation with cars/cops as the blue state will have extra pointless laws including useless traffic laws, and need extra money to pay for wasteful state programs via unnecessary tickets.

I am skeptical that you would go to jail "mandatory" and have your car seized for accelerating too fast (subjective determination) while still staying within the posted speed limit. Sounds ridiculous to me.

Mass is pretty bad and specially in my town where residents feel entitled to tell you when your car is too loud and question why you idle your car in the middle of the day.
OP, hope you get it all sorted out and lesson learned.

It's a judgement call if someone displays an exhibition of speed.

I admit I am not fully aware on how Virginia traffic law applies,my information comes from reading countless posts and articles about people going to jail and have their car impounded in the state of Virginia for speeding and other traffic offenses : some of the cases got media coverage because of the famous people involved...

I would never step foot in Virginia. For any reason.

He looks at State Troopers as mobile toll booths.
