991.2 GT3 RS sale or not and 992 GT3 RS speculation
Because I'll take delivery of a PTS speedster in october, I'm thinking of selling my gorgeous 991.2 GT3 RS in PW/indian red/ gold wheels.
the 991.2 GT3 RS is an extraordinary machine : power/chassis/PDK and sounds everything is perfect . I love it But if I keep it, it will make 3 991 in my garage. Lucky man, I have also a 991 R. Plus, it's starting to make a lot of money to spend all those cars. I wonder if it would be more reasonable to separate from my 991.2 GT3 RS. But I know I'll be back when the 992 GT3 RS comes out. but will the 992 GT3 RS be such a good car as the 991.2 GT3 RS? This is not always the case ... for example the 991.1 GT3 RS is worthless against a 997 RS 4.0 for example ... So I'm wondering if:

as far as I know every next Porsche is better than the previous one. I have no nostalgia for old cars and that includes 997 RS 4.0. I'd rather have 991.2RS over 997 any day of the week. Keep old stuff for museums

it has to be faster for sure |
Zero doubt in my mind that the performance of 992 3RS will make the 991 3rs dated and slow. 997 4.0 is a unique beast because it's numbered AND equally as important, they materially changed the formula going forward for all future RS's (mezger, rws, manual, elec steering, turbo cut-outs, etc, etc). If the 992 3rs is just a better performing but very similar formula to 991 3rs, I think most everyone will want to trade up. Maybe if they materially change the power plant in RS to turbo/hybrid/etc, MAYBE there will be a reason to hold onto the old tech, but I seriously doubt that happens on the 992.1.......maybe the 992.2? And I'm guessing the performance delta will be so big that most want to trade up regardless.
The next is always better. MAYBE the next will be different enough that it causes some nostalgia for the prior. I kinda doubt it. I think 991 is the beginning of a new chapter, unlike the 997 being the end of one. That being said I'm contemplating whether I want to keep a 991 myself. And if I keep one, it's probably the 991.2 3rs for me (not due to any value forecast; due to how it fits my lineup and how I use my cars). |

992 will be more complicated and probably heavier. I strongly suspect hybrid power on the next variant. The dimensions, weight and complexity may be reaching my threshold where they become undesirable to me. I am just now starting to adapt and accept the Grand Touring bulk of the 991. This of course is all my opinion, YMMV.

The other problem is if you are always worried about the next one you don't enjoy this one. Who knows if you will even be alive when the next one comes out.

If you have the room keep 'em all......

The cool part is that Porsche will build more 992 GT3s & GT3RSs than they built 991 GT3s & GT3RSs so we can worry about values less.
