This is the first GT-based 911 that I have zero interest in owning. Give me a 718 Spyder and I'll buy a standard GT3 with the spare change. I have a feeling that if they didn't number it, they wouldn't have sold all 1948 units. IMO the demand was created by giving it a numbered plaque.

saw both models at Porsche HQ in ATL over the weekend. The Guards Red one looked fantastic, the Heritage Version not so much. Taste is subjective of course.

May be a rhetorical question, but are dealers notified today if they will be getting an allocation for a speedster?

Yep- 991 of these would have been easy to sell. 1948 will still be fine but open ended production numbers could have caused a few wobbles. They might even have resorted to giving away the watches free.

If you dont track your GT3, why not?

Be prepared to pay a substantial ADM. My dealer has not been charging ADM on the GT models but made an exception for the GT2. I'm told there will be a hefty ADM on the Speedster. The car is not worth it at least to me.

Actually, it's closer to a roofless 911R (with its softer suspension). A Touring has all the track gear of a GT3, minus the downforce of a fixed wing.

Any of the above cars can certainly be enjoyed on a track though...

In my opinion the manual/SMF combo on the R makes a world of difference in the driving experience and is the key fairy dust ingredient to make it so special.

Time will tell if the ITB will have the same affect ... but if Porsche puts them in the 992 GT cars it will certainly make the speedster a lot less unique than the R, for a lot more money.

The configurator is up on the Porsche UK site. May be others too. ----- oops see this is already up here.
