Posts like this are just going to generate more controversy. Stop adding flames to the fire. We don’t need any more value related threads.

All my cars are highly collectible and will make huge money for my kids kids.

Now, after taxes, storage fees, maintenance, repairs, insurance and DMV charges..... and let us not forget Green New Deal and Uber or the fact that many kids arent even getting drivers license and when they do MT is Mars Trip not manual transmission.

I didn't want this to be a post about value. just poking fun at the people that are so worried about resale and not enjoying the car for what it is..... A FUN SPORT CAR TO DRIVE AND HAVE FUN IN!

Its a car to kill bugs burn fuel and get a few rock chips along the way.

I just saw the same Doug video. If he's correct, it's good news for those of us who buy these cars to actually drive them and enjoy them. There's always been a part of me that has resented the investor/speculator market for GT-series Porsches in particular. I can see the utility and sense in investing in an old collector car or an ultra-rare high-end special, but these GT Porsches are built to be driven with a purpose and enjoyed, not flipped like commodities.

If they are going to lose value, how can they be considered collector cars?

I never understood the concept of collecting anything, cars, watches, pieces of art etc , in the hope to make money
we all want our money to grow , and if there is a way to accurately measure return on investment
collecting cars most likely will be at the bottom

exactly! I do enjoy collecting various things but that is to have a collection, not with the hopes of making any money.

Hopefully i get a f40 before they sky rocket. That an am looking for an xj220. Even though i think the xj220 price isn't going to move up ever. But these are cars i want regardless of value increase or decrease. The GT car market is a no brainer. Too many cars produced. The only one i think has a outside shot at a collector car is the 911r. I know the touring short term has chopped down the R but long term i don't think it will matter.

I'm in the camp of enjoying my cars with the crank spinning (though mine have relatively low mileage since they aren't DD and my time is divided between them and the motorcycles), but I say do whatever gives you pleasure. If you enjoy collecting more than driving, more power to you. I enjoy driving my cars, but I also enjoy walking out into the garage and seeing them sit there. If and when I finally stop hopping in and out of cars, I will pass what's is left to my next generation. Until that time comes, I will enjoy my current and future cars with the cranks spinning and also with them sitting in the garage.

For what it is worth, I agree that cars aren't a good investment, but I do think clean, low mileage example from today will command a premium 20+ years from now because someone with money will pay.

Enjoy whatever makes you happy.

Besides the fact that I can't listen to Doug and his annoying mannerisms and voice for more than a couple minutes before feeling like I want to jam a fork in my ear...who cares???

How many people ask for over revs / DME on a 73 RS...or a Carfax

If these cars become collectible one day..then u can restore them

Until then drive them like u stole them

My kid can restore it if she wants when I'm 6' under Name: photo234.jpg

From 991 the R will be intrested to watch, already two German dealers that have R on stock have told me that this wont came down in vallue, 2,3 RS maybe but R will never go< 300K EUR(MSRP was arround 200K).
