How important is sound to your driving experience?

I don't even have a GT car....yet, but I smile every time I turn the key and hear the induction noise and whirring and tinking of expensive parts in my GTS motor. I smile even more as it gets close to redline. I'm seeing threads here and on Fchat 'how can I make my 700hp car sound better?'. Everyone here knows the sound of a GT3 race motor and it is spine tingling. Can you have as good an experience in a high hp/torque car with less sound or even no sound in the upcoming 'E' cars??

G-forces are more important to me than sound. I had a 70 Lincoln MKIII with a 560HP engine that would snap your neck, but you could hardly hear it.

Depends on sound quality. I know every one seems obsessed with exhaust sound. But I wish we had quieter exhausts and more induction noise. It is like farting vs singing.

Ever driven a Tesla? Huge torque and hp, but to me it’s a great driving appliance. All subjective, but for me, sounds are important. Not just exhaust. Lumpiness at idle, the sound of the transmission, etc. just adds to the experience and makes it more special TO ME. But the sounds have to come from the machine - fake sounds are a turn off for me, in a sports car.

Sound is number 1 for me

Sound is absolutely critical. And it's a big part of why the GT3 and 3RS are special.

+1...add 458 with race pipes to that list

Hell, even my Stevio QV sounds awesome!

Need to add a V12 though Eric

Extremely important. I always calibrate to the speed but good sound never gets old.

To me, sound is an important element in the driving enjoyment equation.

No sound no fun!

Sound is definitely in the top 3 for me for driving enjoyment. Love the sound in my GRP center bypass 991.2 GT3 and love the sound of the LS9 in my ZR1. Heck, I love sound so much I put a nice Magnaflow muffler on my wife’s LX570. Suffice to say, the muffler shop guy said he’d never done one. :). I told him it was the same power train as the Tundra. It actually has a nice mellow V8 tone.

Also have a K&N cold air intake on my daily GMC Sierra truck with the 6.2 engine. It sounds pretty darn good under throttle.

So, I’m not afraid of electric cars and they definitely have their own charm. The whir of the electric motor and the instant thrust would make for a nice daily.

Very important how motor and exhaust sounds. One of the reasons to stay with high revving NA motor.

This is pretty true. The induction noise on the E92 M3 and E46 M3 were amazing. But I'll take the sound of a flat 6 that goes to 9k RPM any day of the week over any new car that's on offer now, except maybe the 812/F12 and the Aventador.

It’s a reason these guys liked the 3RS over 2RS. Go to 2:30 mark.

Sound and performance are hand in hand for me, one without the other results in a lackluster experience, to say the least. Also, it has to be real engine sound and not those with sound actuator or through the sound systems.
