The 991.2 RS drives better, it trail brakes easier and there’s no more understeer.
Its suspension / tires / RWS / Ediff setup changes I’m sure.

Lots of good low miles (under 10,000) examples. Consumable / Service super expensive compared to a 991/911 but won't brick itself, it's simple concept technology (CF Monocoque, manual, pccb, mid engine, hydraulic steering) but executed as a blend of art and science (pedals, interior waterfall, open the engine bay, look at inside of trans, etc)

good for you, I only touched 6

Default 997.2 GT3RS

Good time to buy 997.2 RS. Wings are out of style. Getting harder to find a good one. In 2010 a totally stock 997.2 RS was driven on the road to the 24 race at the Nurburgring. It finished 13th competing against fully prepared race cars and then driven on the road back to to Porsche. This is a great car. And I apologize in advance to 997.2 3.8 GT3 (non-RS) owners but the RS is a different car. (https://www.motor1.com/news/21884/st...ring-24h-race/) The gear box is excellent and I always thought "how could it be that good?' I have never driven a 4.0.

For air cooled cars I loved my '92 964 USA Cup. It's an RS Basic which was somehow legally imported to U.S. for an ill-fated race series because nobody wanted the car. Can you imagine? Do not confuse this car with an RS America. An RS America is simply a decontented Carrera 2. My car was Cup Car #1 and not converted by Andial. . I bought it with delivery miles and put some of the race parts on the car. I drove it all the time on the road. and used it as a practice race car. It's the only car I wish I hadn't sold. But I bought it and sold it twice. So??? I owned the car when I also had the lightest in U.S. 997.2 GT3 RS. Getting in one and out of the other I always preferred the newer car. BTW, the 964 3.6 RS is just as fast and more fun to drive than the 3.8 993 RS. I've never driven a 964 3.8 RS, which is 90% RSR, but owners I know that have both like the 3.6 better. The 3.6 RS has some bump steer issues. The gear box and solid synchos is really crisp but there always seemed to be a problem with 3rd gear when it was track hot.

These days I love the 911R. I'd rate it above the 997.2 3.8 RS. But I haven't driven these cars back to back.

Of course I'm a big fan of the 981 Spyder and I love my 964 Speedster. Did you know that the chassis of the 964 Speedster is from an RS? As some of you know last August I drove my 25 year old car (with no special prep) across the US in a 4 day blast from West Palm Beach to Pebble. 137 mph (radar detector speed) and two 1350 mile days. What a great car. It will be at Luft so please stop by.

SCRS just to rare to consider. But '74 3.0 RS is one of the great 911's. Again, 90% RSR.

New SCRS in my garage for some time

that's true but the 997s despite pasm are the last cars that offer a driving experience that is mostly analogue. The 991s took a huge jump away from that type of car irrespective of gearbox.

The Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection from early 911’s is a legit analog computer
Yes, of course one could. Computers/electronics for reliability and safety are one thing...computers/electronics that filter feedback from the road are another. But you knew that...

If i ever decide to sell my GT3 i am most likely going to get a 997.1 RS. I know it won’t be faster, handle better or be as comfortable. But the sense of occasion would be off the charts. Green or orange with black wheels. Just a thing of beauty. But could i put so many miles on a car like that?

Imagine what the 3.8 RS would be worth if the 4.0 RS had never existed...

Easily in the $200k for clean examples. The 3.8RS is a true limited production car compared to all the 991 GT3s, GT3RSs, and GT2RSs and why most of those cars are still trading above MSRP to this day.

I just purchased a 997.2 RS. Delivery this Friday. For the first time as a Porsche owner I'm thinking about how many miles I should put on it. Hope that feeling goes away when I get behind the wheel.

"And I apologize in advance to 997.2 3.8 GT3 (non-RS) owners but the RS is a different car. "
==> thank you suitcase. I been saying that all along. for each gen (there than 996) I have had both GT and RS version. after enough of them, I stopped reading the spec. it's BS. just get the RS.

==> the speedster 964 or which car will be at luft? I will be sure to drool on it. my silver 914/6 will be driven and displayed at luft as well.

===> they are 30-40% above msrp today for nice one's. and stupid me I sold 7 of them at below msrp on avg...

Rickman_FR. love your 4.0, what's current mileages now? I haven't had time to drive it much of late. but two weeks ago I got it to 16k miles. I had it since new at 12miles. my also has iron rotors and I added the ROW CGT like bucket seats that you got. love it.

NA430GTS, these cars last a long time if you maintain it well. spyerX's has 50k miles and LOTS of track mile. it the silver one you saw in my cave. that's one of my most fav RS. it's actually driven.... I like it so much, I detailed it when it's in my storage... ha

LOL....I still have the 3.8 RS you sold me

I can remember Trakcar calling me at work yelling into the phone.... "wire Mooty $115,000 tonight"

yes that's right $115K for a zero option / radio delete 997.2 RS with 1,000 miles....I still own it

Still kick myself for not buying your 4.0 when you went brain dead for a few days and offered to sell it to me. Trakcar bought Savy's, i moved too slow
