Difficulty shifting to 2nd gear under braking on track for .2GT3?
Hi - has anyone else experienced difficulty changing from 3rd to 2nd gear under heavy braking load just about to turn into a slow corner for their .2 GT3? This has now happened at twice on separate track days. There has been times its completely stuck and refuses to go in, and so mid corner I'll just need to put it back in 3rd gear or sometimes I can put it in neutral, re-clutch and try again and it will work if I haven't started making the turn yet. This particularly happens when I'm trying to shift fast, but taking the gear change slower allows it to go in (not smoothly) 75% of the time.
All other upshift and 5th to 4th to 3rd downshifts are completely fine. I'm using Sports mode with PASM on and NOT doing any heal-toe.
As for road driving, 3rd to 2nd gear is perfectly fine, no difficult gear changes, but I'm also not down shifting from 4-5k rpm on the roads.
(only similar thread I found was on GT4: https://rennlist.com/forums/gt4/9378...the-track.html)
Thanks!

I had this happen to me a couple times on the tail of the dragon, driving aggressively.... i was trying to go over too far to the left before going down. Probably what's going on with you, I'd imagine.
Just had to be a little bit more focused on hitting the shift slot and was fine after that.

Happens to me all the time.
Two things I can think of are either going too far to the left and passing the gate and trying to shift down into a "wall" or the car just isn't letting us for some reason. Maybe the synchro can't speed up fast enough or maybe there's a gate lock out due to the car going too fast? But it's definitely cost me time on the track when I need to get down into 2nd during a slow corner.

Most likely, you're moving the shifter too far to the left and going slightly into the Reverse gate. This is a really common issue in the BMW world, to the point where aftermarket racing shifters come with reverse lockouts.

Guys, this is most likely G forces acting on the car, the motor and transmission. As you brake, turn in and rev match, your engine and transmission torque in the chassis- this causes a misalignment between the shifter mounted in the chassis, the shift cables and the transmission. Theoretically we have dynamic engine mounts that are stiffening in this situation, but in extreme situations they still allow enough movement to cause a balked shift. Or the dynamic engine mounts have worn out- the 997 GT3 versions wore out quickly in my experience.
In in any case I recommend solid or semi solid engine mounts for aggressive track work, then tighter shift cables like the old cup cables. Numeric has the cables and a tighter shifter, but don’t do either without better engine mounts and transmission mounts. Good luck and be careful, the same forces happen accelerating out of a corner as well, and that misshift is more $$$
