GT3 RS VS GT2RS (991.2)
Lots of great articles on both cars, have any of the analysts/writers matched a 2RS vs a 3RS on a track. While big difference in motors much of the rest of the 2 seem to be virtually the same.

I just drove both back to back today. Not on track but spirited drive with mix of highway and secondary roads. They are very different cars - not just the motor, but handling and steering as well. Oh, and the sport exhaust button on the 2RS actually makes a huge difference, unlike on the 3RS.

Owning both (991.2 2 and 3 RS), they are indeed such different cars. The engine note and telephatic handling of the GT3 RS are in a league of their own: so perfect. And the lizard green gets the thumbs up. Thumbs up from people who appreciate that you own one of the best road legal track cars currently on sale. However, the GT2 RS is the one which I feel is the most special to me. The drive is even harsher, the steering heavier, the power imposes respect. And the exhaust note at idle puts a smile on my face albeit the 3 RS sounds racier as the rpms increase. Having both is like having the best of both worlds. The GT3 RS is easier for me to drive confidently and I love her. The GT2 RS is a beast, the power humbling and almost mysterious as I am not scratching the surface of his car. And I do not think a GT3 (which I owned as well last year - great DD and for road joy!) driver can understand how different the current 2 RS is from a 3 RS until you have been lucky enough to drive both. So one thing for sure... they are worlds apart. I know already I won’t have an allocation unless my dealer gets a few more but I could trade my GT3 RS for a Speedster! Not the GT2 RS!

I just traded my '19 3RS for an '18 2RS. I concur with what is said above. I think the 2RS is a more focused than the 3RS. Suspension is stiffer, steering is heavier, exhaust is louder and more track focused. It's a more of an experience. I personally like it more. It's pretty hard core.

I had a 3RS and a 2RS and I just sold the 3RS. I liked the 3RS a lot with all that it offers including its sound as the revs rise. However, the 2RS sounds great in its own right and the eye opening acceleration it produces quickly sets it apart from the 3RS. Both cars are special and wonderful, and they are both a joy to drive, but as stated above, the 2RS is on another level in a number of ways. I thought about keeping the 3RS but I realized that I would be grabbing the keys to the 2RS most of the time and that it would be imprudent to have money tied up in a 3RS that would only be driven occasionally.

I own both (3RS is .2) and also agree with what was said above. The 2RS feels more special.... literally the closest thing to a race car that I've ever driven on the street.

The only time you need a GT2RS [or a turbo S] is running say 140-180 mph on deserted 2 lane out West: You need to slow to say, 105 until you ID each oncoming car. Then Reaccelerate to your cruising speed -- At 100+ the turbos get it done quickly and NA does not, you're just waiting.
Otherwise, it's overkill..... but overkill is fun.

Overkill is fun. Anything over about a 6 year old Camry is overkill.

I find my perspective on a car often changes after a period of ownership. I question journalistic impressions for accuracy after a few days of exposure. I find that the owners who have lived with a car for a while have more accurate and useful opinions.

The 2RS is superior in every way possible on the street and on the track to the 3RS except maybe sound, and even there it's pretty close ... it stands to reason since the msrp reflects this superiority.
If you've owned both the gap between the two cars is even greater than the numbers indicate, and by a lot. The 3RS is a marginally better version a GT3, the 2RS is significantly better than the 3RS and is a completely different type of car and on a completely different level.
However, that doesn't mean that everyone that could afford either would pick the 2RS ... objectively better doesn't always translate to subjective personal preference.
