are you asking about the "physical cable" or the CAN Bus data settings for the Racelogic?

OBD will NOT work with Porsche for race logic - you have to physically splice into the CanBUS - I have that setup working on my 991.2 as seen here in this video

in the video, RPM, Steering Angle, gear (only works in automatic mode not manual I'm working to fix that) and brake and throttle are all coming from CAN BUS in a 991.2 into my Racelogic VideoHD2 unit - all other data (speed and lap times and such, g-force, are coming from the Racelogic's internal data sources.

you need this cable

BR Racing did the actual splicing for me - they might be able to help you - 408-356-1515

CAN bus is necessary, but you don't need to splice, just get induction cable connection, comes on and off easy if needed. At least from a 991.1 TTS perspective.

we tried this and it didn’t work - do you have this actually working on a 991 porsche - racelogic also confirmed they know of no circumstances where induction works.

Yes, picking up rpm, brake, and throttle using their snap induction clamp cable (no splice or punch through insulation) fitting over the twisted CAN wires in bundle by fuse box. FYI this is for a PDK trans.

Devan at Racelogic gave me info when HD2 came out. The CAN wiring I think I found at the AIM site back then.

Wiring in my car:
A20 Orange/red twisted CAN High CAN+
A10 Orange/brown twisted CAN Low CAN-

I think there is a difference between 991.1 and 991.2. It took me multiple tries to figure it out on my 991.2 GT3. I have MT and it captures everything but gear position. Working with Racelogic to figure it out but no luck so far. They are using some calculations to guess gear position based on engine speed but not really working. Almost there though.

As daveo4porsche mentioned, I was not able to use OBDII CAN Cable or Clip-On CAN Bus Interface. The only thing that worked for my car was the Unterminated CAN Interface Cable.
The picture attached is crappy but the blue from HD2 is connected to orange/purple (CAN High) and white from HD2 connected to orange/brown (CAN Low). Both wires are on the same twisted pair.

The position in relation to the fuse box matters. I first tried to connect to the wires located between the fuse box and door and it did not work. It only worked when I connected it to the same twisted pair on the driver side footwell.

Please let me know if you need help. I can order the cable and ship your way! Will do whatever it takes to get the best data possible on your videos!

So Peter, do you have a pic of the connection? Trying to accomplish the same thing.

Did you end up flipping the wires in the harness? You had the correct ones.

Last time I installed in my car this was my problem. Couldn't get a read from the CAN. Flipped them inside the harness and worked just fine.

Chris, You were able to use the clip on induction cable? And what do you mean by flipping them inside the harness? Sorry about my ignorance, just trying to get this working in my .2 RS.
